Chasing cars I have a small dog that chases cars (not my Yorkie), my Bichon.
I live in a very safe area (at the end of a cul-de-sac)....with very few cars coming and going. I don't have a fenced yard. And, as far as going outside is concerned, he goes out - stays in the yard very well - and there are no problems whatsoever - other than very occasionally, when he decides to run after a car.
I could take him out only on a leash - or tie him up outside, but this wouldn't ever be necessary - except for his occasionally running after a car. He doesn't chase every car that goes by - only very occasionally.
I hate to have to start tying this little guy up 100% of the time when he's outside, but I don't want him to get hit by a car. Any suggestions!
I know I can tie him up - but first, I'd like to know if he can be trained not to chase cars.
He's four years old - weighs 21 pounds. (My Yorkie never goes out without me - and he's always on some sort of a leash.) My other dog that I lost last October never left our back yard - and never chased a car in her life. Obviously, some dogs do this and some don't!
