How old should they be when they leave the Breeder? I jus got my Female she is 7 weeks old, I think that is too young for this Breed she doesn't even have her back teeth. I used to breed pitbulls and at 8 weeks they were Tasmanian Devils eating through wooden barracades, thankfully I had sold all 12 of them by that time! I didn't get my male until he was 20 weeks old and he learned everything very fast it was a dream training him. This one is just a Baby, I think the Breeder should have kept her longer? My males Breeder keeps them until 12 weeks or even 15 weeks if they are going to shipped for the longer 6 hour flights. Mine @ 20 weeks was still "Traumatized" from his ordeal and to this day still won't get near a crate(plastic/travel ones) he has no problem with staying in the nylon duffle type. What age did evryone get theirs at?

I Got My Son, Charli Bear At 8 Weeks. Even Though Everything I Read Said To Wait Till 12 Weeks. He Has Done Great. I Have Not Had Any Problems At All. So, I'm Not Sure What Advice Is Best To Be Honest With You. Will You Be Able To Be With Your New Baby During The Day? I Brought Charli To Work With Me, So I Think That Made A Tremendous Difference In The Attention Needed For Him At That Age. He Is Now 10 Months Old And Doing Great.

I brought Cordelia home at 8 weeks. She has done well, except the first week she had major desperation anxiety. Other than that, she is doing really well.

Its pretty young. What is her weight? Is she eating and pooping okay? In my limited experience I have found just one week more or two can make a world of difference for a puppy. Staying with their litter mates really helps.

depending on size and eating habits i usually keep my pups till they are 8 - 12 weeks.

I got my Snickers at 15 weeks, my breeder wanted him to have all three sets of shots plus be micro chipped before he came home, she does that with all her dogs, at first I thought that was a long time to keep them but now I am very happy because I think it has been easier for him to adjust to things because he is a little older, plus he was seperated from his mother for a while before I got him and I didnt have any problems with him going in his crate all night and not crying, I think 7 weeks is too young, as long as he is eating good and doesnt seem sick, maybe it is better he is with you now because I dont think the breeder was very responible in letting him go at that age.

I have to say I agree with everyone else that 7 weeks is way too young. They need the extra time for socialization and to prevent potential health issues that usually do not show up that early. If you are with him 24/7 then I am sure he is better off with you than with the breeder.

IMO 7 weeks is way to young. Its even against the law in some states prior to 8 weeks.
Yes many of them don't have teeth yet at that age. But you have the baby now and all can go well.

I would go to the petstore and get some esibilac 2nd stage milk (or even newborn) and mix it with moisten food with warm water. Keep the baby warm and dry and all should be fine.

I got Snoodles at 14 weeks. She was in a cage all by herself, and I think that is why she has such terrible seperation anxiety. I mean, really, really, bad. Her siblings were also in cages by themselves, and I just could not see the reasoning behind this. If he is eating, and pooping, I am sure he will be okay! Just cuddle him a lot, and he will feel safe!

I brought my first yorkie Chachi home at this age. He got stressed during the transitional period and got diahrea. My second one I brouught home at 8 weeks. I've not had any problems. I think its better to bring them home about 12 weeks but my breeder gives them to you at 8. They seem so much sturdier at 12 weeks.

i got hunter 2 days before he turned 8 weeks! so he was 7 weeks too! he did fine though but he is a little big for a yorkie! he weighed 3.2 lbs at 9 weeks!

"Thank You" all for your response....I thought it was just me! I personally would have prefered her to be between no younger than 12 weeks and no older than 18 weeks. I just think they're so much more sturdy and not as delicate! And they learn much quicker.
