| ![]() Hello all. I am new to all of this. My furry daughter is Bella she is a Yorkie Poo and we love her to pieces. Less than a year ago we rescued a Pure bred Yorkie from a puppy mill. Her paw pads are deformed because she was never let out of her cage for her entire life! She had demodex mange and afraid of everything and everyone. They were about to euthanize her because no one wanted to take on her problems. It's been a long road, but she is coming along. The mange is cleared up. We will soon be having her spayed. No more pups for this little mama! She is still very skittish. Bella is learning to live with her. Lol. They have their moments. When we adopted her they named her Libby but, we thought Hope was a better name for her. She has hope for her future now. The potty training thing has been AWEFUL! Didn't want to crate train her. Couldn't bare putting her back into a cage. I was hoping she would get the hint from the other dogs. But when she has to go, she just goes. Doesn't matter to her where. :/ still have a ways to go with her. She's so happy now. Glad we could make a deference in her life. |

| ![]() Welcome. I have a rescue too. She has blossom into a full blown diva as I sure yours will too with love and patience. It took Brandi almost 2 years to catch on to potty training but now she is potty pad trained. Don't give up. |

| ![]() Welcome to YT! My Tibbe spent the first 9 mos. of his life in a cage outside but as the crate was all he'd ever known, he felt secure in it when I first brought him home. I used it to put him in during housebreaking when I had to leave the house or room unless I took him with me so that he couldn't have an accident. I like to keep them habituated to the crate as when they have to go to the vet, should they get out and AC pick them up, have to board, etc., they must be crated so I didn't want him going nuts from being back in a crate again. But the rest of the time he was out and about with me, getting loved, socialized, trained and exercised. hehe. I took him out every 30 minutes for weeks when I first got him so he could hopefully get the idea that pottying was to be done out there and not in the house. I kept him at first in an airline carrier with holes in the sides and a mesh door at bedtime so he couldn't have an accident and placed that carrier first in a chair along side the bed and then in the bed itself with me until he learned how to use doggie steps and I knew he wouldn't pee in the bed. Soon he was sleeping out of the carrier on the pillow beside me! He was kennel-crazy, wild and frightened to death when I brought him home and now he's a perfectly housebroken, healthy, happy and well-behaved little boy and so will your little lady be over time with loving, patient working with her. Just keep up your kind work with her and thank you so very, very much for taking her in, giving her a second chance to know the good side of life. People who take in dogs destined for the worst are The Best!!!

| ![]() Welcome to YT. Just be patient and if possible try to take her out at least every hour starting with the last time you see her go. This was how we got our little Lolita, also a rescue, trained. She also had the deformed paw pads from standing on the wire cage but like Yorietalkjilly said it was her safe place. We got her a crate with a bottom and a soft blankey and pad and when she didn't want to be around people that was her safe haven. Good luck with your baby.

| ![]() Welcome to YT. IT TAKES TIME. My rescue girl is Gracie. It took almost a year to potty train her. She just went when she had to. Crate training, praise, treats, patience, leash training and taking her to a special spot every time, and love finally worked. She is a wonderful happy girl now.
