Silver/light tan Yorkie My 14-month old pup is fast heading toward becoming silver - or a tan that is almost white. If I look carefully, it appears that the roots over most of his body are this very light (almost white) tan or silver. His legs and part of his face may stay a darker tan. He still does have quite a bit of black, but it is growing out quickly. I would appreciate very much seeing some pictures of these light-colored Yorkies. I didn't see my pup's parents, but I do have the name and address of the breeder. I think I'll write her and ask what color his parents were. That might be interesting. Thanks for any pictures or information. Carol Jean

I have no clue. I believe someone mentioned that they can even change after they are an adult - after they are a year old. How about that - every month we can have a different dog. Tonight I wrote a letter to the breeder (whom I have never met) and ask her about the puppy's parent's colors. I also ask her to send me some pictures of the pup's parents, if she has any extras. I explained my pup's changing hair color - so maybe she can give me some further information. I did tell her that I'm not complaining and am perfectly happy with whatever color he decides to be. Let's wait and see what I learn. Carol Jean Last edited by SnowWa; 12-18-2005 at 04:02 AM.

Females can take up to 2 years to be done changing color and can sometimes change even after that because of hormone fluctuations and males can take up to 3 years to be done changing color. Also age can play a factor just as it does with us they can lighten up and turn gray just like us when they get to be seniors.
