| ![]() Aww I'm happy she came out of it ok. Unfortunately I don't think any of the dental bills are cheap ![]() Also, as much as it's great to brush - and it IS important to brush - some of it is genetics - just like humans - so don't be too hard on yourself. My girl doesn't seem to have as good as teeth as my boys and they all get brushed the same amount. ![]()

Very true. My pups have dentals done every 12-18 months. I have seen some that don't need them that often, but honestly it is rare. Dental issues are common in yorkies.

| ![]() I'm glad all went well. Don't feel bad your doing the best you can. Oh and that sounds about average in price for a dental, they are always expensive. Brownie's last dental was atleast $350. Sometimes you can do all the care in the world and it still doesn't help much. Brownie lost a majority of his teeth and I'm afraid when he goes back for another dental he will lose some more. He is 7 years old. I've had him since he was three. I've brushed his teeth on a regular basis, give him treats for his teeth, add additives to his water, scale his teeth myself every month but he still ended up loosing those teeth when he went in for his yearly dentals. The vet said I was doing everything I could and it would have been worse if I hadn't but it just couldn't be helped. Now my Destiny who is 5 has amazing teeth and hasn't needed a dental because her teeth are in such great shape and I haven't done nearly as much with her as I have with Brownie. So some yorkies are just more prone to have dental issues than others.

| ![]() Thank you all for your comforting words. ![]() Hailey is doing ok......she's not back to herself but she's better than yesterday(with the help of some pain meds). I've had a rough night though because she got diarrhea and she had to make frequent trips outside all night so i slept very little. The vet told me to feed her soft food for about 10 days.....Should i give her some boiled rice to "tighten her stools"? About the bill......I ended up paying $447.00!!!!! ![]() My husband and I were in shock when they told us the total!!! Also, she had a total of 5 extractions ,not 4 as I previously thought. ![]() Have a great day! ![]() Last edited by yorkienewbie; 08-17-2011 at 06:22 AM. |

| ![]() Glad she is doing better! I'm planning on getting Jackson in for a dental within the year. He will be 3 in October and has very minimal staining/tarter and his teeth are, for the most part, shiny and white, but he does have an over-bite and I think the bottom teeth are bothering him, so I just want to get it over with. I will be a nervous wreck when he is under for the dental but I'd rather stay on top of things!
