| ![]() We stopped zipping Roxie up in her house at night because she was just giving us too hard of a time. DBF got tired of being bitten everytime he tried to put her in her house. So now we just leave her in the living room and put up a gate so she doesn't come upstairs. She refuses to sleep in any of her beds (she's got 2 in the living room)...she will sleep on the couch, on the recliner, or in the kitchen on the bench instead. I've spent so much money on these dog houses because I kept reading that Yorkie like cave-type places to feel secure. She's had a cage, a playpen, 2 carrier houses, and a plain old dog bed, yet still prefers my throw pillows on the couch to sleep on! Is there a way I can convince her to sleep in her bed at night, or is it just a lost cause at this point?

| ![]() Well, I'll be darn...that's definitely different. My girl loves all of her beds. Sleep with us at night, but rotates throughout the day to all of her beds and her crate at times. Could there be a change at sometime she tinkled on them, maybe that's why she won't go on them. Or maybe she thinks it's some kind of punishment. Odd that she would bite when being put in her crate though. Heck, maybe she knows what she likes and that's it. They can be so demanding for their own way at times. My girl sure has a mind of her own and let's you know it too. LOL

| ![]() The only bed mine really use is the bed under My Husbands desk because My Husband sits there alot and they like to be near him. My cats are the same way I got them beds and they lay on the couches and benches instead.

| ![]() Mine prefers my bed. Once in a great while, she will get in her bed for a few minutes. Sometimes she'll bet under the bed, if she's hot or something.

| ![]() Well, she does look pretty comfy where she is! My Lucy loves ALL her beds for naptime; but prefers MINE at night. If you don't mine her being loose downstairs at night (ie potty accidents); then I wouldn't worry about it. She looks like she has found her spot!

| ![]() maybe its because your scent is on those places. Currently my dog sleeps w me but he has his own bed in the floor next to my side of the bed and seems content. But when i put beds in the living room he rarely used them . Rather, he would sleep on the ottoman close to where i set. |

| ![]() Try it some time when he's not home.... even if it's just a midday nap... I've seen it change the demeanor of many pups.... makes them feel more secure and more a part of the family, and reinforces the bond with their owner(s). Or at least put a bed in your bedroom for her. Mine have beds all over the house, but they prefer to be where I am, 2 in the bed, two in beds on the floor in the bedroom, sometimes all 4 in the bed with me and DH. I think allowing this is so important for their psyche. Even if they choose not to continue to be in your bed, just for them to know they are welcome is so important to them. Might not be as important when there is more than one Yorkie in the family, but for the lone Yorkie, it's a sad situation. This is my opinion, I am not judging you at all. You have my sympathy if anything, as I have also lived with a non-compliant boyfriend. But when I saw what his foolishness was doing to my baby.... he had to go! He was on his way out anyway, because he could see that he wasn't getting inbetween me and my dog. She didn't care for him that much either, and I decided to take a hint from her, as dogs cannot be lied to, and truly see a person for what they are. When I kept seeing fear on her little face I put 2 +2 together. If any man intentionally hurts a small dog in any way, mentally or physically, what will he be able to do to a girlfriend or wife, or a child? And then I met the man who is now my husband. Her reaction to him was totally different... she almost became his dog! I'd rather have it that way, at least I know my choice in humans was right, and safe, and that he is a good person. And it did my heart good to see them interact and get along so well. I never had any fear that she wasn't safe with him... a true friend and partner.

| ![]() My guy likes to sleep where I've been. I've noticed that if he's on our bed and there is a "dirty" shirt on the bed that he'll sleep right on top of it even if there's a comfy pillow a foot away. Maybe try taking a sweater that you've worn and put it in one of her beds..... |

| ![]() When Callie was a puppy she hated her crate but until she was potty trained that is where she stayed at bed time. She hates feeling trapped, like anything with a door shes not really found of. I close the bedroom door at night so she has to stay in the bedroom and she likes to stay in her little house that doesn't have a door. I also sense she was a puppy have given her a treat to go to bed.
