| ![]() Hello! I am new to your community, and so excited about what I've found here! We just bred our yorkie, and I am so excited about the coming weeks. I am nervous about wether it took or not, though, because there was only one official tie, and the vet artificially inseminated the other three times (she went to 'visit' four days out of the week). I have talked with our vet (who bred Yorkies) and researched online, but would love some tips and advice from people who have really experienced this. What are the most important things for us to do right now? Thanks so much! Can't wait to hear from you all! |

| ![]() WELCOME TO YORKIETALK! The most important thing for you to do right now is find a mentor. Someone who knows the ins and outs of the Yorkshire Terrier breed, has helped whelp, and can sit by you the entire time. The forum can only do so much and it's not the best place to come to since we can only do so much under the cover of the interwebs. Learning now what to do is a dangerous game. I'm wishing you and your female the best of luck!

| ![]() My vet is my mentor. He and his wife are the parents to our sire, and he has pretty much given me all of the information that I need so far - along with the added benefit of being only a phone call away! He has done this for years, and I am thankful to have such great knowledge and advice at my fingertips. My hope was simply to get some advice from others who have gone through the same thing. I know from my own human pregnancies that there are some things better learned from friends than a doctor! (haha!) And I also know that, as much as we try not to, sometimes we forget a thing or two. With many 'advisors' I'm hoping to make sure that nothing falls through the cracks, so to speak! |

| ![]() If your Vet has bred Yorkies, perhaps you can use him/her as a mentor. There is going to be a lot going on with changes in the pregnancy and whelping and you are going to need someone to be there in person who is experienced and knows the signs of when your baby girl is in trouble or when something is normal.

| ![]() No problem! Our Emmy is simply very important to us - she's basically our youngest 'child'!. We researched for a year before we had her bred, and we were in discussions with our vet the whole time. She is an 8 lb yorkie (biggest in her litter, so no one wanted her ![]() |

| ![]() My advice is always to make sure you have an experienced mentor to work with. If you have that (which it appears you do) then you are on the right track. ![]() Welcome to YT! |
