My girl just gave birth to 5 healthy babies! everything went great so far

I need to know how to keep mom from setting on her babies when she's feeding them? Also one of my babies is not latching on at all, seem to be moving lot slower then the others, what do I do about that also?

Congrats on your new babies, I would give the one some nutrical and hold it on the moms teat until it latches on keep them very warm that is probably what the mom is trying to do. good luck

Thank you so much. Is ok for me to close my eye fo just a few min. We started at 1

o am this morning and we got done at 5:25 am with the last babie.

How long do a let the babies feed, or do I let them go at mom all day and night? Mom does seem a little tired!!

Make sure that you are taking care of mom's needs, Nutri drops is a great supplement for her right now, give her Goats Milk with equal parts of distilled water add 1 beaten egg yolk and Karo Syrup. Give her scrambled eggs, once a day. With 5 pups you'll have to make sure that she has plenty of food at all times and increased calcium and whelping pudding

Pups need mothers warmth right now, let them nurse on her as much as they want, they need her colostrum. Mother's milk only lets down every 2 hours...

I would take her in for a POP shot (Oxcytocin). This will get her uterus back into shape, remove any dead tissue and assist in the let down of milk.

Whelping pudding recipe:

12 oz distilled water warmed in micro
1 envelope non flavored geletin disolved in warm water.
add 1 12 oz can evaporated milk
2 tablespoons vanilla yogurt

Chill until set spoon out a tablespoon and give to her in addition to her meals...
Recipe is great for weaning time too.

You can give her cottage cheese, cheddar cheese, even a bit of vanilla ice cream

I'd also order some calsorb from revivalanimal.com to keep on hand. With 5 pups I'd give her PetCal tabs, I don't know how much she weighs but for 7 pound girl a tab a day is good.
