| ![]() Hi guys, I signed up here on yorkietalk last year some time when I was looking to get a yorkie. Due to a series of personal events I didn't end up being able to get one when I planned, but I'm starting to look around again and have a question for those of you that keep your yorkies hair short. I was just wondering if you still have to blow dry it after a bath or if letting it dry naturally would cause it to mat. Also, any products you have tried and really like for your yorkie's fur would be helpfull! Thanks! ![]() |

| ![]() Welcome... I think that it is great that you are researching and learning before you actually get a yorkie ![]() My two are in kind of a mix of long and short cut ![]() As far a products go, it is really going to depend on the coat type of your yorkie as to what works the best. I use different product on both of mine. I personally really like Coat Handlers products, petsilk, minksheen, and CC's Ice on Ice. I am sure other people will have a whole different list that works best for them ![]()

| ![]() I also like Minksheen especially because it repels insects. I also like Bio-groom smells great and keeps her coat soft. There is a thread somewhere on here that discusses different companies that offer free samples or low cost samples. I ordered a couple and stuck with what I liked best for my girl. Welcome back and good luck finding your baby!

| ![]() I personally like Bio Groom. I haven't tried Minksheen, but I like the smell of Bio Groom. I blow dry my short haired male because he tends to get cold very easily. He's only 3.5lbs. and named Captain Jack. I let everyone else dry in the summer freely, however, if it's winter, then I blow dry them.

| ![]() We have both Ryle and Fancie in short puppy cuts, and I always blow dry after every bath. It makes their hair softer i believe, and they get cold easily. It only takes about 2 min. each. |

| ![]() my boys have kinda medium hair, in my opinion. I use a 7 in the summer and 8 or just scissor in the fall/winter. I don't blow dry them simply because it is more fun to watch them dry themselves ![]()

| ![]() I like bio-groom also. It makes them so soft and they smell so good!!! I have never used a blow dryer, but they do get cold so easily. They know bath time is time to cuddle. They both have their own beach towel and after bath I cuddle them up in their towel until they are almost dry then brush them out. They are easy to brush out with hardly any tangles. I use the bio-groom silk conditioner after the bio-groom oatmeal shampoo, that probably helps with the tangles.( send email to www.biogroom.com and they will send you samples)

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | ![]() i use espree shampoo and conditioner on morgan and CC Ice on Ice to brush when her hair is longish. Usually she is kept really short. I always blow dry her because it makes her hair look fluffier (she's a cotton coat) and i don't like to leave her all wet in case she gets cold. She loves teh blow drier and rolls all over the place while i dry her for the first few minutes then she settles down and just lays there while i dry her. she even demands the blow drier to be pointed at her in the mornings when i'm trying to dry my own hair. LOL i would imagine that if you get a yorkie with a soft coat you would need to always blow dry it once it gets past an inch long because it will mat up if left wet and un brushed.

| ![]() I let Sophie air dry because she doesn't care much for the dryer, though I'm working on getting her used to it. She's a year and a half old and her silky hair is long and it dries slightly wavy when air dried. Last night I let her get almost dry, then blew it the rest of the way dry to straighten it. She did pretty good as long as I sat on the floor with her in my lap. I figure this winter I'll want to dry her completely, so I better get her used to it now. If your baby isn't silky, it might a difference.
