Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Zoe is in heat. We completely have full intention of getting her spade, we just got into a pickle financially and time got away from us. She's a healthy pup and our male is neutered. He's not pawing the ground to get to her or anything and I let them out separately. I'm not sure if he'd still try to get to her or not. Anyways, I don't know much about this. I'm going to look in my books soon but any advice straight from owners would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to the store today to get her some diapers. I'm going to bathe her today and just love on her. I feel really bad for her because I have such horrid periods. Do you think they have cramps??? I hope not ![]() Anyways, thanks everyone.

| ![]() Awww - My baby is too in heat right now. She is two weeks in now. I find myself feeling very sorry for her as well. Like us - she acts tired and just doesnt have 'that spunk'. She'll get it back! This is her second heat at 13 months. Her first was at exactly 8 months old. Just give her lots of love. Those diapers will run your babies thigh hair DOWN TO THE SKIN!!! But you wont notice it until the damage is done. Please take my advice here. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Thank you for your response. I'm changing them often and giving her plenty of time outside. She loves it there. She's keeping herself very clean which is helping, too. I'm brushing her before putting on a new one. It's a must though with our kids and her being in my bed. She has to have those diapers on at bedtime!

| ![]() Just make sure you schedule her spay for as soon as possible after she finishes her heat. Most vets like to wait about a month. Had you gotten her spayed before she ever had a heat cycle, you would have eliminated her chance of ever getting mammary cancer. If you have her spayed before she has her second heat, the risk rises to 8%, still pretty low. If she has a second heat cycle, her risk of cancer jumps to 25%. Good luck. Even neutered male dogs will react to a female in heat. |
