To Ask 4 Opinion's....

I thought yorkietalk was a site, that memeber's can ask other memeber's for their opinion's. But 2 my surprise some memeber's somehow doesn't see it that way on here. I have read alot of memeber's thread's on here asking for other's opinion's about yorkies. Like the question that myself posted yesterday, about getting the yorkie girl from my neighbor. And I read all replies on there, I truly understand and like. So now I now, just speaking for myself, something's you can't ask, because out of a hand full there will be someone trying to make you feel ignorant, and I'm far from that. So I just chalk a repley up as being a " -". Thanks 2 all for their opinion's on my thread that i posted yestersay. Last but not less, if someone can afford another yorkie then other's should be happy for them, just my little opinon.

Personally when someone asks for opinions that's what they receive....some they will agree with and probably some they will not. There is a large variety of people and their opinions on the board...

I agree with bchgirl- if you are asking for opinions- you are going to get the full range- not just ones that you want to hear. Some people are trying to be kind and perhaps telling you an opinion you might not otherwise have thought about. I don't think it is fair to get upset at what people say when you are asking for opinions.

I'm still new here so I may be ignorant of what you may be refering too but here's my take on forums and life in general.

1. So much can easily get lost in translation and what can sometimes come accross as insulting is not intended to be insulting. With the type written form of communication we lose the body language and tone of voice that would be there if it were a face to face conversation.

2. When someone asks a question the person asking the question has to be willing to accept it may not be the answer they want to hear.

3. Not everyone will have great advice. Pick out what you feel is good and discard the rest. There is more than one way to go about doing just about anything so pick the style that works for you and try it. It may or may not work. If not... try something different.

4. Some forums just have some mean people. That's what the ignore button is for. Ignore 'em and forget about 'em.

5. I can't get along with my husband 100% of the time and I chose him. There's no way I'm going to be able to accomplish that feat with people outside of my home either. As long as everyone tries to keep the sand in the sandbox everything will hopefully work out.

6. Sometime we just have to agree to disagree.

I'm in no way trying to be insulting. These are things I have to remind myself of sometimes so I just wanted to share them here. I hope that in some small way it will help other too in those moments that we all struggle with. I hope that whatever has gone on hasn't made you feel like you want to leave the forum. I have WAY too much to learn to be having people skip out on me so you can't go anywhere.

I wouldn't hesitate to ask for opinions on YT. It's great to hear different perspectives on an issue. And if I disagree with someone's opinion, that's good too. It's always a learning experience.

i actually like everyone opinion and i like to be able to reply to other's its an opinion its ur choice to decide what u want to do next its a good way to communicate and make friends hear other's experience storys i mean im very open minded so it takes alot to get me upset but i try not to imagine the person reaction as there typing in the message thats just silly lol and it is also a good way to make friends...

If I ask for an opinion I usually want a broad spectrum. If you already have your mind made up or are just looking for support I'd word the thread differently.

well i hope it was not my reply that you think was conveying being "unexcited" about someone getting another yorkie who can afford one?

i think it can be sooo easy to get wrapped up in the excitement of getting a new addition, some people, or at least *i* forget the common sense stuff like the additional costs...but personally i did not see anyone who was not supportive of you getting another baby ... i am sorry if it was me who came across that way

but to answer your question/poll, i would only ask for opinions if i was totally open to all possible suggestions...if my mind was already made up, i probably would not bother

IMO some on this site use the chance to voice their opinions as a chance to lash out towards others. I think it would depend on the subject matter before I'd ask for opinions on YT. I've learned alot from reading differing opinions here on YT, but I've also seen some hurtful things being said to others here on YT also.

I wouldn't hesitate to ask for opinions if I wanted to hear them. If I don't want other's opinions, I don't ask. When you ask opinions on a public forum you are going to get many of all types. You don't have to agree with them all of course..but when you ask, you will receive, especially here LOL

I wouldn't hesitate to ask for an opinion, if that is what I really wanted...an opinion. I think many times people ask for an opinion and feel offended if others' opinions don't jibe with their own. On the other hand, I have seen people get lambasted for asking a simple question. Many people pass judgement, instead of giving the opinion that is asked for.....opinions are easy to take with a grain of salt.....a harsh judgement, is not. But, we can also "click off" if we don't want to read the thread!
