Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Anybody own a good pet scale? Does anyone own a good quality, reliable pet scale that they'd recommend? My home scale isn't accurate enough to measure small gains, and I'm tired of driving all over town trying to find a scale that's reliable. The one at the pet supply store said Eddie was 9.5 pounds last week. I was delighted until it told me Jack was 3 pounds, which I'm certain is a pound off. So I drove them to the vet. I put Jack on and got 4.0 pounds, which was realistic. For the heck of it, I took him off and put him back on. 3.4 pounds. Same with Eddie. He ranged from 10.5 to 11.5. I'm thinking the money I'm spending on gas driving all over town to weigh them could be better spent on a home scale that I trust.

| I can sympathize with you lol! I have about given up! The only scale that has been consistant is my hubby's fish scale! He's never used it, I have to get a canvas tote bag, weigh that and then fight them into the bag! I can tell you they LOVE it! But I've tried my SIL's baby scale and the one at the vet's and they are always different.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | You're getting different weights on those different scales...because they are not calibrated. You can calibrate a baby scale. Weigh an item whose weight you know...10 pound weight. Set the scale....then use only that particular scale to weigh them.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Eddie is not a baby. Actually, I like that idea. But how do I know what a good baby scale is? Is there a brand that's better than others?

| Do you have a Sam's Club? I actually use my shipping scale that I bought there for about $40. They have to sit on it (it's about 12" square) but even Loki can sit still on it long enough for it to be accurate. It's *extremely* accurate. I usually weight boxes between .5 and 5lbs and the ladies at the Post Office always comment on how perfect my weights are. That might work? You can "tare" it so if you want to put something soft on top for them to sit on you can do that and it's still accurate. This is the one I have: Amazon.com: Royal EX-315W 315-lbs. Commercial...

| I'm out of my area of expertise here, but some scales may be inaccurate for light weights. You could try weighing yourself with and without the Yorkie, and the difference in weights may be near accurate. This way you can keep the Yorkster still while you weigh him/her. If you need help with the arithmetic, post the weights and we'll help you out .

| Another idea other than shipping scales would be a kitchen/food scale. That is what I have, but I believe it only goes up to 11 lbs...would that be enough for Eddie? Just another option |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Nah, Eddie creeps up over 11 fairly often.

| Mike, I use a postal scale - purchased it from an ebayer a couple of years ago. Can't remember the price, but it was very reasonable. Mine will weigh up to 35 lbs. |

| i love my postage scale too! i got it on ebay and it measures up to 35lbs as well...it weighs in ounces too (for example, it will show Xlbs, Y.Yoz) ... i calibrate by putting a box on it before i turn it on and then weigh away

| I use a postal scale also. I got mine on ebay for about $25. I believe the seller is Haddaways. Mine goes from nearly nothing to 75 pounds.

| We got a great digital baby scale for $60-$70 .... sorry, can't remember the name of it. It is, of course, in storage in AL. I like the baby scale for accuracy .... wiggling baby .. wiggling Yorkie, etc. Eddie certainly doesn't look like 11 lbs! He must be all muscle!
