Well, Don and "the boys" (both dogs) just came back from their morning walk in the the rain. Don reports that Higgins LIFTED HIS LITTLE LEG for the first time!!!!! And promptly fell over! I'm sorry, Higgins honey, but I haven't stopped laughing yet.........

I had a "flashback" to my Amanda's cocker puppy when he was learning to "lift" ... I happened to be looking out the window just in time to see him about to do his little hike at the hugh "spanish bayonet" in the front yard! YEP!! Poor little Zach tipped in mid lift and his painful yipping haunts me to this day!!! Sorry, but it was the funniest thing! He never went near that thing again! Tell Higgins to hang in there .... his balance will improve! Puppy kisses!!

Junebug, does Otis "mark" a lot? You are so lucky to have a squatter if it curbs that tendency. So far, Higgins doesn't mark much. They say if you have them neutered just before they start lifting their leg that they won't pee everywhere. Higgins will be 6 months old at the end of June and we were planning on having him fixed then, as well as any teeth needing to be removed and also having him chipped. I hope that isn't going to be too late if he really starts to lift his leg! Will check with my vet........ By the way, it looks like it is going to run around $250 to have the little guy fixed!!!! Yikes!!!!! I am calling another vet today to get their prices........

$250 seems a little steep to get him 'fixed'. Yoda didn't mark or lift his leg to pee for at least 5-6 months. Then all of a sudden, we take him on a walk, and he goes near the power pole lifts his rear right leg and pees on it. Ever since then, he's loved to mark his territory...

Funny how one day they aren't doing something, and then the next they are doing it all the time! For the longest time, Higgins didn't jump up on furniture or off it, then one day he just started to FLY! Up, down, and all around!

The first time she thought about jumping, I am so thankful I was looking! She just adores our Kayla [14 yr. old granddaughter] and she wanted to sit on the loveseat with her. Although the loveseat is very low ... when she took her little "running start" and made her jump she just hit full bodied against the front of it and landed on her back on the carpet!! It was really sad but much like the coyote in a Roadrunner cartoon ... I'm sorry but I laughed until I cried!!

Poor Toto! And to have Mom laugh after she falls! ![]() Just kidding, Yoda used to be fearless and do crazy jumps up onto a guest bedroom bed. It must have been at least 2 and a half feet high. But he's make it most of the time. I know he's jumped off our bedroom bed too at times (probably 3 feet high) when he thinks there is some emergency going on. At least the carpet in both rooms is pretty soft, though I prefer him not to jump from high distances. His poor little legs have given out at times and he's limped like he twisted it or something. But he's been fine for a while now... I still need to get to making those steps like MikeM made for Otis!
