GUCCI's 1st Top Knot!! Or attempt anyway lol

I have no idea what I was doing but we tried his hair is a little shorter still, he has a lot of it but it's not so long, it just tends to poke his eyes .. so we did the best we could with it to get it out of the way, Tell me what you think or ... He didn't like it very much at first, you can totally see it in his face .. He has a tiny rubberband for hair and a clip over that.

The 1st Pic was before the hairdo , he was perfectly happy and curious... the others he is just plain angry lol .. and the one where he is just staring at the camera is the one where he had gotten used to the fact that I wasn't taking it out

yes he was very angry with me lol... I was actually just trying to get the little whisps from out of his eyes, I don't know how to explain it but the inside of the eyebrows kinda pokes his eyes because they are really long.. any suggestions?

I'm not sure if this is what you are galking about...but it it the part inbetween his eyes?
With Izze I use : PetEdge: Wahl Stylique Trimmer
I use it on my poodles, too. It's small enought to shave the hair right between the eyes so it doesn't poke them!

If you want a nice topknot...do not cut the hair on the bridge of his nose nor give him bangs. It's messy now...but it will grow out. Use gel to keep it in place.

Yeah that is exactly what I am talking about, it's in the center right on the sides the hair whisps out and goes into his vision.

bchgirl - I do want a top knot in the future, should I not trim the hair in the center on the sides as suggested then? it sounds like it will work but in the future I do want a top knot so should I leave this alone ?

Txrosegirl - thank you hun! hopefully he will get used to it, he hated it for the moment .. he tried desperately for about 10 minutes to get it out then he just gave me the eye poor baby

No don't cut it...even if you keep the rest of him short. I know it's a pain...but it will grow enough that it parts on either side of his nose.

If you cut it now...you'll have the same problem if you ever want it to grow out. You can use hair gel to tame it for the time being.

If you want a full looking top knot...step away from the clippers. LOL

Do you know of a good gel that is safe for dogs or is any gel safe? I will definately try this out as that is what it seems like it's doing .. growing in a part.. he has two longer whisps coming from the inside and they both go in different directions making a part.. so I would probably be ruining what will be part of the parted look (if that makes sense) in the future right?

Once it gets longer...the hair at the top of the bridge...is pulled up into the topknot. That's why you don't want to cut it...if it's cut the topknot looks very skimpy.

Petzlife makes a dog hair gel. You can find it online...or I will confess Reggie has had bed head styling products in his hair. LOL.

Here's a picture of a yorkie in coat...but you can see it's topknot very clearly. You can keep the beard and body shorter of course.

Beautiful! and yeah I'd definately keep everything else shorter but I see now that what I am talking about if pulled up in the top know it would look choppy if I cut it and it wasn't the same length.

How old is yours? By 8 months or so if you don't cut it...he'll have a nice topknot.

I was letting Reggie's head hair grow...for the same reason...and a stupid groomer cut it anyway...even after I'd told her 4 times...do not cut the hair on his head. Anyway...it has finally grown out enough to get it all up...with only two wispy's.


I'm letting Ramsey's grow back out...it drives me nuts too. Actually it drives my husband crazier....he always complains....I like to see their eyes.

Another suggestion...continue to put it up even now. He'll get used to you doing it and it won't bother him later. Mine sit quite patiently to have their hair put up.
