For those with babies on Hydroxyzine or those who know anything about it

Tatum is on Hydroxyzine for her allergies and has been for quite a while now. Today I went to the vets office to pick up another bottle as I only had enough pills to last me through tomorrow and then I would have been out. I went ahead and I got them today because the weekend is here and also Labor Day, etc. and my vets office of course won't be open. The pills we have now (the ones that we are almost out of) are teeny tiny (they are also cut in half) and they are a bright orange color. Well, I just opened the new bottle of pills that I picked up today from the vets office and they are white in color, and MUCH bigger than the pills we have now. In fact, one half of these new pills that I got are double the size of the bright colored orange ones that we have now. I am scared to death to give these to her in fear of them not even being the right pills Everything is correct that is printed out on the prescription bottle label, but the pills look totally different (size and color). I don't know what to do She HAS to have these pills...she NEEDS them. Otherwise she scratches and goes absolutely crazy with her allergies and I DO NOT want her getting another infection around her little nose/mouth.

I am going to try and take a picture of both of these pills together so that you all can see what I'm talking about. If I am able to get a clear enough picture, I will post it here in this thread.

Has anyone whos babies who have been on these pills ever had this happen before? We HAVE actually gotten white pills sometimes, and orange another time, but I never ever remember them being so different in size like this. I have no idea what to do

Here are the pictures, it's kind of hard to tell the true size difference. Since they are such small objects, they aren't easy to get a clear picture of, but hopefully you can tell at least a little bit.

Is there someone you could call that works at the vets office or call your vet personally?

Or maybe another vets office..that might be open tomorrow, that you could go by and show them the pills and if they are wrong..surely they would trade the pills to the right kind.

Generics come in all sorts of colors and shapes. I've had that happen myself and called the drug store in a panic thinking I got the wrong prescription.

If you click on Google images and search for Hydroxyzine you will see the pills in all different colors. I've attached a couple of images, all 10 mg pills.

I am guessing that they forgot to cut them. I'd cut them yourself into quarters.

Thank you guys so much for your help! This morning I woke up and it was still bugging me so bad that I couldn't read the imprint on these new pills, it is just too hard for me to even TRY and identify them - so, I decided to call my vet's office and the answering service answered and said that one of my vets was on call and she paged him and he called me right back. He is so darn nice - he said that he wanted me to bring them up to his office today at 3:15 and he would meet me up there. He said that he wants to look at them before I give her any to make SURE that they are the right ones. He said that sometimes they switch brands and that could be the only problem, but because there is quite a big difference in size, he wants to actually see them in person to make sure that they are in fact the correct pill, and the correct dosage. He is a little worried that maybe they gave me 25mg instead of 10, and he said if so, they would split the halves into another half (quarter them). So, I have only one pill left of the bright orange pill that we've had, and I will bring those up there with me as well as this new bottle of pills to compare.

I will let you all know the outcome when I get back. It's only 10 till 2:00 here and I don't have to be there until 3:15 - so it will be a little while before I am back with an update

Ok I went up there and he already had the bottles of Hydroxyzine out waiting for me hehe We compared them all and the new pills that we got ARE in fact the correct pills He said that they switched brands or something, and the K10 thing that I thought I saw on the new white pills was exactly right because that's what the pills said that he had up at his office So, he gave me some extra pills just for my troubles, lol...he is such a sweetie He said that he would have done the exact same thing and not to worry, that everything is good....so anyway, I feel 100% better!
