| ![]() How many of you do the tail docking yourself? How many times has the tails gotten infected? How do you keep them from getting infected? What do you use to dock their tails? |

| ![]() We have been docking our puppies tails for 8 years and have never had one get infected. We use surgical scissors to cut the tails and I use cuticle scissors to remove the dewclaws. To stop the bleeding I apply a product call Clotisol that I get from Revival Animal Health Products. The Clotisol stops the bleeding immediately and at the most the pups might loose 1 or 2 drops of blood and thats it. |

| ![]() If I was a breeder, I would use the clamp and twist method since risk of infection is lower and it is more convenient...

| ![]() my first experience was very recently and i took mine to a vet the next day they LOOKED infected but im not sure but i was advised to put idionie on their tails and the next day the looked 100% better i would like to learn to do it my self but i dont know any local breeders that do it themselves |
