| ![]() Once in a while I would give my yorkies prime rib bones to chew on to help clean their teeth. They really love it.

| ![]() Sometimes but only for Jane though. She likes them but Jeremiah can't have them because I am afraid he might choke. Since he has a tiny mouth and a tiny throat.

| ![]() I allow Recon to have bones occasionally but I watch him very closely. My smaller 2 I dont let them have bones cause it is easier for them to choke. |

| ![]() I gave Sully a bone from a steak we cooked the other day...nice and big for him, and he loved it. But a few hours later his stools were um....runny...and so I decided that those bones are too rough on his system and I won't give them to him anymore.

| ![]() I give bones all the time. I prepare them especially for my 7 critters. I buy the soup bones that look like round slices of probably a femur or leg bone. I take all of the marrow out, then boil them for usually an hour to sfoten grizzle or whatever. Take them out, let them cool, scrape any remaining tissue off. Then I scrub them with a brush, rinse and they absolutely LOVE them. I choose specific sizes and shapes and they can chew them but they are too thick to break. Every so often, I wash them again in soapy water, rinse then put them in hot water with beef buillon cubes. They are ready to go again. My largest dog is about 7 pounds so I do not have to worry about swallowing them, getting choked on them or having the jaw strength to break them.. If you don't feel comfortable giving your babies bones, I would say don't do it. Use Nylabones ar similar product.. |

| ![]() I give Gus rib bones. He love them!!! I have to be watching him the whole time and he has to stay in his crate. But I found that they bring out the bad boy in him. He gets too mean and will growl if anyone gets too close. The only one he'll let close is me.

| ![]() Growing up we always treated our dogs to bones but now even with my big dogs I have discontinued it. One of my Labs just can't seem to tolerate it and I felt if that big of a dog had problems then I wasn't even going to chance it with the little guys. When you own 4 dogs vet calls that you could have prevented just don't fit into the budget so we take the better safe than sorry approach where the kids are concerned.

Should a person wait until they have their permanent teeth, before giving them a bone? Or does it matter?

| ![]() I only gave them once in a great while, and then I sit there and watch how she's doing with them. So far so good. Great picture. |
