| SO SAD! Euthanizing at New Market, Ontario (Canada) Animal Shelter There was an outbreak of ringworms disease and all of the animals and few of the employees got ringworms. They already started the process of euthanizing the animals. There are 350 animals at the shelter. I'm so sad and angry !!!!!!! 50 animals already euthanized at OSPCA - thestar.com |

| Why are they euthanizing them? Ringworm can be cured. I know...we bought show cats from Texas several years ago and 2 of the bred females had ringworm and they passed it on to their kittens. My husband and I faithfully bathed, dried and medicated 17 kittens and 2 adults daily until it was over. There is just no need to euthanize these animals. |

| I feel the SPCA in Canada euthanize a lot of animals unnecessarily, at least that is the case in my province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is very upsetting.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Why? There is a Facebook group to join, in hopes of stopping this. If a FB group got Betty White on SNL, maybe it could help these animals. Also, included another new story link for more reading. STOP THE SLAUGHTER OF OVER 350 ANIMALS AT THE NEWMARKET OSPCA!!!!!!! | Facebook Province can't intervene in OSPCA mass killings

| If they're hell-bent on doing this, the least the community can do is withdraw ALL support from this 'shelter'. Simply disgusting. I hope the protests can do some good and prevent some of this senseless killing.

| This is just unbelievable! What bothers me just as much is 350 dogs and cats in a shelter because of irresponsible pet owners, breeding, not spaying and neutering. It is all just a horrible cycle. I am sure they are doing this for cost purposed which is even more sad. To think because of irresponsible pet owners 350 animals are going to lose their lives.. I've said it before and I will say it again. I think if you breed (intentional or accidental) you should be held responsible for the life of those animals. Breeders should be required to chip all puppies and kittens and it they should be traceable back to that breeder. They make the decision to breed and then sell/giveaway/or whatever those animals and then the new owners sometimes decided to drop pets at shelters or on the street. If more people thought that sometime in the future that litter of puppies might bring a bill to their mailbox for their care it just might make irresponsible people thing twice about breeding and filling up the shelters. It would also make breeders think twice about who they allowed to have their puppies/kittens. More people would spay/neuter and less unwanted animals would be in the shelters and being PTS.
