| Agility Equipment: Look like a good deal? Dog Agility Starter Kit Obstacle Course Should I buy it? Jackson's never done agility besides a tiny tiny tiny bit of practice a dog park with agility equipment set up. I know he would be great at it because he's very agile, active and athletic. The link above contains: Weave Poles High Jump Open Tunnel Pause Box Start/Finish Line Stop Watch & Award Ribbons Set-Up & Usage Instructions Game Rules and more for $47.99 right now, it's usually $60. I was considering purchasing it just for backyard fun before actually enrolling him in a class, and getting him used to the equipment first. It seems like a really good deal considering I've seen a few tunnels alone that cost well over $40! Or should I start small and just purchase some weave poles for $17.99 on eBay and wait to get the rest later...? Any tips for teaching a dog to go through the weave poles and tunnel?

| I like the weave pole they have on ebay better. I like the ones with the bottoms, instead of just sticking them straight into the grass. The tunnel looks like a crinkle cat tunnel. We have one of those from walmart, it was like 5 bucks. Or, I saw some DIY instructions for sale too if your crafty, make it yourself! I want to start Uni on agility, looks like fun!

| Britster, It looks to me like this kit only has a couple of things you could actually use. There is weave poles, one jump, and a tunnel. The pause box, I think, is just marked off - not a table. You could make a whole set of things for the same price. PM me and I'll help you. Karen |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | We attended a yorkie meet-up this past spring and had one of these same agility sets, (just for fun, no serious agility) it worked out great for our purposes. It's not a quality set, but then I'm sure you're aware of that bc of the price. Btw, the pause box is nylon webbing strips, staked to the ground in a square shape. To get the yorkies to weave through the poles, you had to bend over just in front of the yorkie offering them a treat. Which meant the person was weaving backwards through the poles, while bending over.... LOL....we never really used the stop watch, as only one participant's yorkies actually finished the entire run.

| I have this set... I think it's great for the price and it's quick to set up if you don't have the time and patience to build your own. It's sturdy enough to teach the basics of agility and it's lightweight so it's easy to pack up and take with you to the park or a friend's house.

| Thanks for the tips everyone! I haven't made my decision yet -- I've been spending FAR too much money on Jackson lately so I'm trying to get my spending to a minimum and be picky and choosy with what I buy him, ha! I can't seem to find a tunnel anywhere cheaper than like $15 so if anyone sees one cheaper, let me know!

| Well the tunnel I got for Uni was from Walmart, but it's pretty small, and I don't know if Jackson will go through it since he's a bigger guy. It's a cat tunnel and I think it was like 5 bucks.

I've been looking on eBay and there is some AKC agility equipment that's priced pretty good. It's the shipping that gets ya. I MAY just start off with buying *one* thing at a time and doing it slowly over time... they have a AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB AGILITY SERIES TUNNEL BEST 4 DOG! - eBay (item 110446231069 end time Dec-14-09 12:27:10 PST) tunnel there. They've also got a jump thru ring, but then I'm thinking.... I could probably just buy a cheap hulahoop and use that, lol. So I dunno yet.

| Hmmm...I may have found what we are looking for.... found a cat play tunnel online at IKEA for $5.99. May be Remy's Christmas gift! You think it would work?? It has a hole in the middle, but I guess you could turn it so that was on the ground.... For $5.99 it may be worth a shot IKEA | For your pets | For your pets | BÄSTIS | Play tunnel for cat |

My Walmart is a LOT closer than IKEA (White Marsh - for Britster...) so hopefully I will have luck there. Can't beat $5... | |
