| Question about single pup,pls help! From this thread http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yt-...st-litter.html Do anyone use to raise single puppy? My CK who is about 3 weeks old has no playmate.Nowaday, his mom leaves him alone sometimes though she still nurses him very well. In my opinion,he seems to be lonely when he's alone. What a poor boy. What should I do to cheer him up? I don't want to spoil him but I don't want him to grow up with bad habit if any too.

| My Keegan was a singleton. It was hard to get him to start eating solid food since he didnt have anyone to compete with, but that was all the problem we had. When Mommy started leaving him alone more and more we just played with him all the time. He is a good furbaby now all gorwn up at a year and half

| I was wondering the same thing, as we have one little male who is 2 weeks old now. I like the idea of a stuffed animal, I'm sure I have around here. BTW, your little one is very cute! |

| He is soooo sweet!! With my first litter, we lost all but one and so we did what the others have suggested by adding stuffed animals. We had a bunch of the itty bitty beanie babies (but these didn't have any filling) and he would snuggle with them a lot. I also would take him out of the box and have my own snuggle-time with him....I did this a ton and didn't worry about spoiling him because it was going to happen regardless. | I'm not a breeder but I'm very good friends with my breeder and I lived down the street from her for 13 years before moving to South Florida...My Bailey RIP was a singleton and so is my Ivy Lou who is only 10 mos....But I paid very close attention to my breeder cause I just love the Yorkie breed and she is my friend....she lets her Moms call the shots when it comes to weaning the puppies and during the weaning she would put dry puppy food mixed with goats milks & water to make it a mesh (soft) in the whelping box...she started doing this as soon as she seen Mom start nipping or growl at the pups when they tried to nurse from her...Moms why of saying no more tit for you LOL...weaning time...so when she went to fed the pups, she also made a bowl for Mom...she fed Mom with the pups...once the pups seen mom eating they wanted to see what it was...and they would go over and stick their little noses in it and quickly realized that was yummy and they were hungry cause Mom wasn't nursing as much....She said usually by 10 weeks sometimes sooner pups are completely weaned and Moms milk is almost all dried up...she says once pups are eating the mesh good and getting their teeth, than she starts offering puppy dry food that she put in a blinder to make the kibble smaller for the pups...and keeps a bowl of that in with pups 24/7 and water but removing the water at night when she went to bed...but still offering the mesh 4 times a day...she says usually by 12 weeks pups can eat the kibble without putting it in the blinder...She lets mom run the show, she just offers the food for them when mom starts weaning...hope this helps...good luck with your new baby boy.

| My Molly was a single too. The nice part was she didn't have to share her mother's milk. It was all hers!! She was quite pudgy when we brought her home. |
