| 4 Babies in MN! Heartbreaking Story! My girl Audri had her babies on 6/7!!! Very SAD whelping story. We got her x-rays back on the 31st and were SHOCKED to find out she had 6 devoloped pups! Previous time she had 2, a boy and a girl, and I kept the girl. Audri is usually just under or barely over 5#s. She was up to 7#s when x-rayed. Anyways, Tues. night, the 7th, she went into labor around 8 pm. She had a boy at 8:45 and a girl at 10:30 both with ease. We were a bit concerned with the break in between but were relieved when the girl came and prepared for a long night. After two hours passed we became worried again as she hadn't had contractions again. Had talked to the vet several times already as I had a bad feeling they all weren't going to make it. Well she started contractions again close to 1:00 am and was obviosly straining with no luck. Rushed to the vet and x-ray showed a pup had come down one horn of the uterus and started up the other and was stuck. They put the 2 pups in an incubator and performed a C-section. 1 hour of pure HELL! The pup that was stuck had a very faint heartbeat and the Vets were unable to save it. One was stillborn and somewhat under developed and may have been dead for days. I wasn't as sad about that one as the one that got stuck. Like I said I'd had bad feelings one would not make it. The happy ending is Dr. Todd(whom is a new friend 4 life) saved two baby girls and the most important baby to me, Audri. Very emotional rollercoaster! If anyone in the MN area is interested I'm taking reservations next week and will allow visits whenever you want. A very nice thing as I wish I got to see Audri when she was this tiny. Birth weights were all about a quarter pound give or take a few grams, and they are 190-222 grams(6.8-7.9 oz) tonight. I will try to post pics of Mom and babies, including Lexi, Audri's daughter, soon! Last edited by dbl-a; 06-18-2005 at 08:13 PM. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Glad to hear that your momma dog made it through okay. 6 pups are a lot for these yorkies. I'm sure that they are adorable. Can't wait to see pictures.

| Welcome to YT and Congratulations on your babies! I am so glad that your Audri survived and is going to be OK! Sorry about the babies that didn't survive. Nothing is as important to a Yorkie Mom as a good vet!!
