I really, really hope you find the perfect home for this cutie-- very quickly. She looks like an adorable sweetie and lovebug, that has done nothing but try to please her entire life. However I have to add, I also feel sooooo sorry for her. Because of her "flaws" of being 9 lbs (after how many litters has she had in 2 years? Just curious) and her floppy ears-- she is no longer wanted/needed, despite her "great personality", and also being a very "social" dog ???? I am truly not trying to offend anyone.........but this really bothers me. Dogs that are sold for their "flaws" from a breeder are from much better environments than those from puppy mills. Which is a plus in their side; however, both are treating animals as disposable items, who are gotten rid of when they no longer function as a profit!!!! I know, not all dog breeders are this way--but quite a few are. It just breaks my heart. How could anyone throw away a pet that was very social and had a great personality? A dog that they had for 2 years. All because she weighs more than you wanted & had the ultimate sin of having ears that do not stand up!!!!! Then the ultimate gall, imo, is a last source of profit is wanted for these poor, thrown away animals--BUT at a discount rate!!!!! I am sorry, there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with this picture!

Jazzy Girl...many breeders refine their breeding stock after taking a good look at things. Some prefer to breed to the standard rather than just produce pet quality pups. I don't know this breeder but maybe she's trying to improve her lines by no longer using dogs that don't fit the standard.

We breeders do have to place some Females/Males that do not fit in our breeding programs. It does not mean that we do not love or care about the dog. We only want to place her/him in a pet home to be pampered. Most dogs young and old adapt well, They really are more happy and love the more one on one attention when placed in the right home. I also am placing one for the same reason..She just went out of standard and her ears do not stand. I'm sorry if this upsets you Jazzy Girl, but most breeders just can not keep every dog. | |

I guess I feel that is a bit much to ask for a dog that has done her job for you and is no longer good enough... If I were a breeder and I were doing this for the money involved, I guess I would be overly concerned with an adult dog going to a good home. At that point, if they are no longer good enough for your breeding program, IMO, give them the best thing ever-a family that wants them. I wouldn't be so concerned about getting hundreds of dollars for her. Hasn't she already done enough for you? KWIM? I am NOT trying to be mean or rude, just giving my opinion. If she were cheaper, I would drive from Ohio to get her. My mother is looking for a adult female yorkie right now.

Yorkiegirl2 - is so correct. Good breeders cannot keep everything. I am waiting on my Cici to grow more. She is only 4.25 pounds now at 11 months. I am really hoping she will grow some more. But in a month or two - if she shows no sign of growing - I too will have to find a forever home for her. Of course I will have her spayed, teeth cleaned and have her checked over thoroghly again before placing her. Will I be very slective who she goes to - Yes! It is sad to have to do this, but a reality. We cannot keep everything. It is best for our yorkies too that we do this. It keeps our home small, so we only have the best. Here are a few pictures of my Cici. T. Last edited by topknot; 12-07-2006 at 07:47 AM.

At 2 it is not so bad. But for my older ones - I would never let them go. They are part of the family. But I could understand one at this age finding a new home - they are still young enough to settle in with the new owners and have a perfect life. Besides - this way she can be more spoiled if less dogs are around. Maybe it is her turn now to be the Queen of the home! And think about it - the person getting this one would know exactly what they are getting, so price is really good then. T.
