Looking for a puppy in the Kansas City Area Hi everyone, this is my first post and I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have been looking for a female Yorkie since October with no luck. I want a little girl who will be in the 5lb range. I've contacted quite a few breeders here in the Kansas City area but they all want $1000 and up for their puppies. I would pay it if I could, but $700 is all I can afford. Does anyone have a little girl or know someone who does for that price? Thanks.

I got mine from a lady in Richmond, Missouri, which isn't too far from KC! I know that right now she doesn't have any Yorkies available, but if I remember correctly, she's expecting some! She has a website - www.kingdompups.com You can go and check it out and contact her that way! I know hers are NOT in the $1000 range! Anyway, good luck in your search!

Thanks Drakesmom for the info. Can you tell me a little about your experience with her. I've talked to her before (maybe in December). I can't remember much about our conversation. Would she allow you to see the puppies parents and the area they were kept in. I've talked to some breeders who will only let you see the puppy they think is best for you and I'm just not comfortable with that.

She is a very nice lady, but I read StewiesMom's post regarding her thinking about buying one of that lady's maltese puppies, and she is exactly right! I only live about 20 minutes north of her and the day I decided on Drake, I told her I was coming to Richmond anyway, which I was, and that I would just come by and she insisted on bringing him to me and told me that she didn't allow people to come to HER house because of disease! I did find that a bit odd, but I didn't say anything! I do think her Yorkies are reasonably priced, compared to some of the other prices I've seen, but because Drake was born "blue", I only paid $100 for him, which covered her vet costs for him...he was neutered already when I got him and then, of course, his shots! I just fell in love with him because he wasn't "perfect" and thought he was just as cute as any $1000+ puppy, so I bought him! She is good about communicating and updates her website daily and gets back to you almost immediately but like I said, as far as my own personal experience, she would not let me come to her house! Hope this helps and if I can answer any other questions, I'd be happy to! Good luck with your search! Karla

Well, now I remember why I didn't pursue her any farther the first time I talked to her. Maybe her pups are fine, maybe even perfect, I just don't want to support anyone who may not be taking care of their dogs.

Sunnyd, I am in the KC area, too, and also looking for a female puppy that would be around 5lbs when full grown. I haven't been able to find any less than $800. I'm thinking we will have to raise our limit to get our puppies. Let me know if you find anything! Thanks.

I did raise mine I did raise my price limit to $800. I found a really nice lady (so far) north of the river. Her puppies are due on May 5 and I should be able to get one for $800. They won't be ready until the end of July (12 weeks). She's going to have them paper trained and used to having their teeth brushed. I'm very excited.
