| Decatur Dog Show!! Not a good weekend!! Brody got 2nd place. I know, can't always be a winner. In years past, this show was a 2 day show and was held at a Civic Center in downtown Decatur. Now, in 2 small buildings at a fairgrounds! Anyway, as soon as we got to the show site, I took him out of his crate and he acted like he wanted off the grooming table - so, OK - I put him down, and thank goodness the door for outside was right next to where we set up our stuff. Yes, diarrhea! Blah! Well, hubby got some paper towels for me and luckily I had some baby wipes and got the mess cleaned off his coat. Can you imagine if he had done it in the crate on the way to the show?? Then, I could not get him to hold his head still while fixing his topknot - everytime someone came through the door he jerked his head. Finally got it looking ok - and decided to take him outside to walk him a little to see if he would walk. Yep - diarrhea again. Yet another clean up. Poor little guy. I'm not sure what caused this. He's never had this happen before. Hope it doesn't happen again! So, I don't like his topknot, and tried another one, - didn't like it either, so now I am sweating (we are in a metal building at a fairground and its really HOT) finally got it the best I was gonna get it so we waited for ring time. Now I find out there was a judge change - ok - I'm not familiar with alot of the judges since I haven't shown in 12 years. This Judge is a guy, and Brody did not like him. He was very heavy handed while Brody was on the table and Brody backed up a little but not real bad. But at least Brody walked for me and I didn't have to drag him - lol! Hope he does better Mother's Day weekend! And most importantly I hope the diarrhea doesn't happen again!!!! What a mess - - - - - - |

| Sorry you had a hard time , it happens to me also. Sounds like something was stressing you both out. Does he go for car rides often? I think I have the secret of getting the top knot right after spending 4 days with Peggy and watching Randy Winters, I just hate it if I have to do it more than once!! Doobie got runny poos at the Seattle show, it was a mess. No more soft food or treats for him, he only gets dry!! |

| Oh, I am so sorry. Well, just remember my weekend with being stranded on I-95 in North Carolina. What a trip! Don't worry I get like that too and so has some of my others. They can get diarrhea from nerves too. I know the dogs pick up on my energy. I am sure you were doing great till you saw the diarrhea, that is like me. I do use Lavendar mist perfume to help my dogs stay calm and even suck on a peppermint. That is so they do not smell my nerves. I am like you returning after amny years (in my case 25 years). I still get nervous, but it is getting better. And he is still new to the ring. All it takes it a new building and new sites and smells. I don't blame you guys. It is hard to show. Sorry the weekend was so hard. Good luck Mother's Day weekend! I am sure you will do better. Brody is a handsome fellow. P.S. I have even missed a reserve once, because my husband was sleeping and a handler had to bring in my other dog, since I was still in with my youngest. I learned a lesson that weekend - always take your oldest dog yourself. The judge even came up to me later and told me she liked my oldest one, but she just would not behave this last time in the ring.My oldest girl would not walk for anyone else while I was in the ring too. She jumped, twirled, you name it, but walked. And we almost got BOB this past weekend, but Gigi acted up on the table at the last minute. I think she had had enough. The judge was great and waited and tried to get her to calm down. At least she did get Winners. So see it happens to us all. T. |

| I went to one show where Connor got diarrhea so very bad, poor fella. We spent more time in the bathroom than we did anywhere else. He even went in the ring and was still gooey on the table and the up and back. The other dog beat him because the judge said he was throwing his back legs out. I told him he would too if he had a gooey butt. He gave Connor the messy wetnap award. I guess it happens to everyone. Hopefully this means we've had our turn and it won't happen to us again!

Tami, My Go-Go would get lose stools everytime she showed. It would happen just before ring time, sometimes right outside the ring. The weekend she Championed, I got the scare of my life. She got the trots again, but it was followed by bright blood. Cleaned her up, gave her meds. My mentor insisted that it was the food I was feeding. I was sure it wasn't because it only happened on show weekends. Took her to the vets on the Monday following the show. Explained to the doc what had been happening. Did some testing to rule out anything out of the ordinary (nothing found), but at the same time explained that since it was happening only on show weekends, it was due to nerves, yep she had show jitters. He gave me Flagyl and told me to give her a quarter tablet starting on the morning we were travel and 1 a day while we were on the road. Did this until she was retired from the ring, she never had a problem again.

| I'm sorry that I missed seeing the show and other YTers too. I had plans on being there but a prior commitment stopped me from going. |

| My Lupae would get a very nervous stomach when I showed him.. One time he barely made it outside the ring before he had diarrhea.. I felt so awful for him! He looked up at me with the saddest look in his eyes, like he was telling me how sorry he was.. I would have liked to have went to show to watch.. Jimmy and Jackie Hadfield were entered and they are wonderful wonderful people.. I enjoy getting to see them any chance I get!
