| Question about ring toys I have seen several exhibitors using a toy called a 'flat rat' in the show ring. I cannot find them anywhere. Does anyone know were they can be purchased over the internet? Also for those of you that show, do you prefer motivating with bait or with toys or both? What bait and toys do your prefer? Thanks so much for you input. |

| You can find them at the shows. Infact I had to pock up 2 of them off the floor when I was walking by and placed them back in their tub. You have to find what works for your dog. My girl prefers bait and praise. The toys just doesn't work for her. Some do very well with the toys. So just try different things and see what motivates her more. |

| My dogs love the rats especially flat ones. I have to hide them when we are not practicing otherwise they destroy them. Even my yorkie who doesnt play with toys loves the rats. I would love to know if there is somewhere to buy them online too. |

| My dogs pay no attention to it whatsoever. i got mine at a show. in fact, I hardly ever train mine with bait. A lot of UKC judges do not allow bait (food or toys) in the show ring so i figure what's the point of training them with it and then not being able to use it. but when I do, it is cheese or cooked chicken breast. |

| I was wondering the same thing. There are a lot of scammers out there so I am leery of emailing. |

| Barbara, a lot of puppies like the squeeky noise, as well as the fur on the flat rats. I see them in the ring mostly with puppies. Once they are in open dogs you don't see them used much. Most use a little food bait if anything. I keep both in my pocket. If I need to get the dogs attention I might use the squeaky flat rat once or twice, and use the food for a reward. I only have one dog that thinks it is alive and really pulls his ears and tail up when he sees it. For him, I keep it in my bra () and just slide it out a little when he is looking at me. But you gotta be careful, I've lost one once... whoops.

Flat rats/squeaky rats are great. For whatever reason the squeaky rat makes my little boys prey drive wild--once he gets it good luck getting it back! | |
