| Looking to adopt a Yorkie in the SoFla area! I tried going in the regional section but everything is just so scattered, I'm having a hard time sorting through it. So, if you know of any that happen to be in need near me or perhaps near Orlando, or if you can redirect my post somewhere? Thanks. I'm really new to this forum. |

| My suggestion is to start with Pet adoption: Want a dog or cat? Adopt a pet on Petfinder You can search using your zip code. Most rescues post their adoptable pups on that web site.

| Is it normal for a rescue to charge a 400 dollar adoption fee. |

| Sometimes it is normal. Mostly the young yorkies or pups get a higher fee, the rescues use the funds for vet bills etc for the older dogs

| I was just talking to my mom about the Humane Society today and she said she was talking to my Aunt who lives down in Florida and they've got such a bad pet population that they are literally giving the dogs away for free at the Humane Society down there. I am not sure if it's just in her area, or if it's all across Southern Florida. I am POSITIVE you can find the perfect yorkie in need!! It took me a few months, but I found my newest addition on Petfinder. There were lots of Yorkies on there, and I tried a few times, and had a few let downs...but finally, everything just clicked with Ricky. I paid $150 adoption fee for him, but IMO, that is pretty cheap. I've seen dogs listed anywhere from $80-$450. $200-300 seems to be pretty standard. I've seen everything from puppies to senior yorkies on there. There are also lots of puppy mill dogs that really deserve to be spoiled in their furever home. Shelter dogs are very appreciative because they know how lucky they are!! Hope this helps |
