12 yr old yorkie girl in Iowa free to right home

On Saturday I met a vet in the Des Moines area, that has taken in a 12 yr old female yorkie. Her name is Chloe & I just went & met her. I will post pictures of her later.

Here is the story as I know it.

Chloe's owner has congestive heart failure & this little spunky girl was getting too much for her to handle and waking her up, so the owner wanted to put her to sleep. The vet, told the owner, no lets see if we can find her a home.

Chloe is not very big - but she is over weight. She weighs between 7-8 lbs - she wouldn't hold still on the scale while I was there today. She probably should be more like 5 lbs or less. So she could lose some weight. I think she may have been eating bad people food

She needs a good dental or at least some Petzlife and some bully sticks to clean up her teeth.

She is a talker. I spent about 30 minutes with her at the vets office today and she was telling me all kinds of thing. She moved like she was younger than 12 yrs of age.

Her ears are not standing up all the way, but it looks like there is a lot of hair on them, and maybe at one time they were up. She has an interesting little hair cut. Basically shaved down body with kind of a lion cut on her head.

She has 2 little moles on her back. One is a little raised. She is current on her shots

I'm at work, but I will try to post pictures of her later.

It sounds like they would give her to the right home. I was considering adopting her, but the timing is just not right for me. Hoping someone else in Iowa might have a heart & home to welcome in an older girl

It breaks my heart to hear stories like this. I sure hope someone takes her and lets her live out her remaining years in happiness.

where are you in Florida? My parents are down there & I may be meeting the in Tenn. in 2 1/2 weeks. Maybe I could help get her to you.

My parents live in Sarasota. They may meet me in Tenn., and then stop in Atlanta at my brothers before going home. They would be back in Fla. around May 5

Where in Tennessee are your parents meeting you? I just hear of an older (not elderly) lady a few minutes ago that has wanted a yorkie for years and when I sold a puppy to her daughter she cried over it. The daughter is a good friend of mine and is going to take BOTH my retired girls for free when i get ready and i was a little afraid that she would give one to her mother because she feels so sorry for her but she said she wouldn't. i live close enough that i would know if she did. Anyway, she would be interested in this girl and tickled to have her and give her a wonderful home. let me know.

She had just woken up. So she needed to have her face washed - she had build up around her little eyes.

Did I tell you she had the sweetest temperament?

She may not be the perfect yorkie standard, but very sweet. She literally posed twice in the position of the first 2 pictures, lifting up her little front leg when I called her name

I have about 7 pix, so you can really see her face & body. She needs a better haircut, but she is sweet she grew on me quick

Did the vet check her for cataracts? Bless her little heart. Why is she shaved down I wonder. You are a saint.
