| Harness, collar or Halti? Which would you reccomend for a medium sized yorkie as a pup. Buddy, as a pup was alot stronger than a yorkie so just a normal collar worked for him, then a halti when he started to pull. Buster, wouldnt take a harness so we lead trained him with a nylon lead and a collar from an early age. I think a harness would be best so that it doesnt pull on the poor things neck and distributes the pressure easily.- but want a 2nd opinion |

| Is there any particular reason for a harness? just because it doesnt hurt their necks? Not denying they need one, just wondering why. |

| Personally I love harness on Momiji just because she looks so cute in it. But unfortunately most of the harnesses are too big for her so sometime I have to use old fashion collar. But if I can find cute but xxs harness, I'm all for it!!! |

| I just posted about this in the european forum... My breeder by email today told me that she is not a fan of harnesses at all because she says they ruin the coat and you have less control of the dog..she uses a lightweight slip lead and said she will give me one when i collect Pixie. She has been breeding and showing for 46 years and is very knowledgable. I may still get a puppia harness though..but will give the slip lead a try first.

| edgar is about 13lbs. i started using a "gentle leader" (halti) for him and it helps so much. but he hates for me to put it on him. and sometimes if he's really excited it doesn't matter if it's a collar, harness, or the leader, he'll pull like there's a cart full of bacon in front of him. |

| For us, it's for health reasons...Pulling on the collar around the neck can cause serious harm to these little dogs' tracheas. A harness can help keep your dog out of harm's way. If there's a dog that comes running at your dog to attack it or there's a car coming, you may not have time to reach down and pick him up...You can pull them up by the harness if you HAVE to...

| My pup hates his harness..it side tracks him...actually I dont think he hates it at all...i jsut think he feels the clasp and tries to get to it to chew on it...He also stops walking to scratch , so I guess it doess irritate him. It mamkes kearning to walk him a bummer. I am at a loss.
