| Puppy-Poo-Palance - anyone ever buy one? I'm considering buying the above-mentioned product since I'm having a hard time pee pad training my 11 week old yorkie. I currently have a pen for her and place the pee pad at the opposite end of her bed (inside the pen). She goes on the pee pad about 60% of the time - the rest is all over the floor. I had to move her pen area to the linoleum floor since the wood in the living room was starting to come up. Pup Pee Poo Palace - THE CONCEPT BEHIND THE PUP PEE POO PALACE Anyone have any experience with this product. Looks like it would be hell of a lot easier to train with. Thanks, Amanda |

| Thanks for getting back to me That's strange the breeder said that the pen would be all I need. So in addition to the pen I should have a crate or this PuppyPooPalace to help train her better? How does that work? When would I put her in the pen and when would I just put her in the crate? I'm confused. Any help would be greatly appreciate. Amanda |

| I don't think the puppy poo palace would make a difference, other than making your pup sleep right next to her piddle pad when you aren't supervising and if she is locked inside the crate. I personally would not train a pup to go inside a crate (unless it was an open crate used more in a cat litter box like way). What kind of pads are you using? When you can supervise, make sure you praise her when you see her hit the pad. Never stop praising. Give her a small treat too. When she misses, say "Uh oh" and clean up the mess without being upset. Place her on the pad several times a day, right after meals or vigorous play, and right when she wakes up. Use keywords like "Go potty here." She may not need to potty, so let her go. Make sure she is never to far from her pad even when you are home. You can also try starting out using 2 or 3 pads lined up to make the target bigger. As she improves, eliminate 1 of the pads.

| One more tip . . . change the pads frequently. Max was a little picky as a pup and wouldn't poop on a used pad. He also didn't like more than 2 or 3 pee spots.

| In a crated situation, I think that would be appropriate when she is left completely alone for a long enough time period (which is very short early on especially) that she cannot help but eliminate in their 'safe den'. The goal of CRate training though is to use their natural instinct to create a safe and comfortable space that they will not eliminate in. I think crate training can be great, I think that it is only a piece of overall training though and if you don't have floor then we lack learning opportunity! making the target space broad was a great suggestion and keeping her in certain areas I think are the best routes to go. Limit her access to any extra rooms or hiding spaces and keep her potty pad close by. Close up the ex pen and have her hang out periodically throughout the day when to think she will nee9d to go potty such as after meals. Also you can try the 'go here' spray they make on her potty pad so it smells like the right place to go potty and make sure every accident spot is cleaned thoroughly with an enzyme spray so she does not continue to eliminates te wrong places. Good luck!
