| [News] Vet denies beating dog during surgery An Arizona veterinarian has made bail after being arrested on suspicion of hitting a five-pound Chihuahua so hard he dislodged the dog's eye. The vet -- Joshua Winston -- tells a Phoenix TV station he's "never ever physically abused an animal" in his life. But employees at an animal hospital say they saw him use his fist to hit the little dog named Bella in the head three to five times. The dog survived, but had to undergo followup surgery to stitch her eye back into its socket. The two techs who say they witnessed the incident tell the sheriff's office that the vet was extremely frustrated with the dog because she was uncooperative and aggressive during a visit to be spayed. http://www.wbir.com/news/national/st...provider=gnews |

| OMG that is just horrible. I hope they take his vet's license from him. Thank god for the vet tech's or who knows what else this guy could do. Maybe he's looking at a lawsuit also by the chihuahua's owners. I would certainly have to think about doing that.

| I read this story a couple of days ago and it horrified me. I hope they pursue his prosecution. When your employees turn you in, well, that is very telling! I find it sad...most vets are gentle and loving. They shouldn't get a bad rap because of guys like this one.

| He should have his license pulled! I can't imagine ANYONE, much less a veterinarian, hitting a dog. Way to go vet tech!

| Eww, what human being would beat a poor innocent creature! That's definately sick! Especially someone who studied to save animals' lives! Did you know people who harm animals are predisposed to violent crime...

| This post hurt my soul! I would sue his sorry --- from here to China!!!!!!!! Their is not an excuse in the world for that kind of behavior!!!!! Thank The Lord he had some wonderful Vet Tech's working for him that were not afraid of him. I can't even imagine what i would do if that was my precious dog. All he had to do was give the dog a shot to mellow her out and relax her. Then proceed with his what he had to do to prep her for the spay. If it hit the paper, i am sure he will be out of business, no one in their right mind would let him touch their pet! I feel so sorry for the poor dog and it's owner. I hope her eye heals 100% and i hope no brain damage was done. |

| It just hurts my heart, the poor little thing. I hope the dog is doing well. We love our babies so much, I could not even imagine going through what the poor owner is going through. We wish the dog and the owner all of our best.
