| [News] Grandma Dies Trying to Save Yorkie From Fire So sorry to hear about this Grandma! And I hope Buster is alive out there somewhere safe! --- UK-A GRAN and her son were killed yesterday after she ran into her blazing house to save her beloved dog. Annie McKenzie, 75, fled the blaze with two children she was looking after for a neighbour. But she was determined to save her Yorkshire terrier Buster. As she fought her way back into the house through the smoke, son Kenneth, who had been outside cutting the grass, realised she was inside. He bravely ran in to save her, but was forced to jump from an upstairs window as the flames spread. Neighbours in Saughton Mains Place, Edinburgh, saw him leap, covered in a blanket. Annie, known as Nancy by friends, was declared dead at the scene and Kenneth, 45, died from his burns in hospital five hours later. Last night, Nancy's daughters Eileen, Christine, Jenny, Susanne and other son Colin were mourning the loss of their mum and brother. Christine, 46, said: 'My mum had a heart of gold and she really loved animals. 'I always said my Mum would have died for that dog, and now it's come horribly true.' Eileen,41, said: 'My brother and my mum are gone, just like that. I just saw my mum yesterday and she was so happy. 'She was so full of love for all her family. Kenneth was always a great big brother to me and we are all just devastated.' Police inspector Paul Ashworth said: 'The early indications are that fire broke out about lunchtime when the lady was babysitting two children, aged nine and six, and her son was outside cutting the lawn. The children rushed out to safety with the lady but she went back into the house to save the family pet and her son went in to save her.' Mr Ashworth said the cause of the fire in the semi-detached home where Nancy had lived for 32years was still being investigated. Neighbour Nicola Boyd, 25, said: 'It is frightening how quickly fire can take over a house. She was a nice woman. A very pleasant soul.' Francis McAllister, 47, said: 'She doted on that dog. It is such a tragedy both she and her son died trying to save it.' Firefighters found no trace of Buster when they searched the house. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/tm...name_page.html |

| Now that is love. But very sorry to hear she passed away. I would have to say that I too, if I thought I had a chance, would try to save my babies. I couldn't imagine life without them.
