| Oh gosh I am so glad things are returning to normal. I know people still without power and heat! Not to mention... those without homes and lost everything and they still have to get to work to have an income. Hotels and rental vehicles are pretty much non-existent right now.

| As I had said immediately after this event, while all the politicians were walking around, all grim faced and determined to make it look like everything is working great.....Obama's quip about that useless entity FEMA, "they work for me".....I said back then, all those poor souls that have lost almost everything they have, PLUS the ones that have NOTHING left.....your problems are just beginning! YOU WILL GET NO HELP FROM FEMA....like that man on TV said, you fill out tons and tons of paperwork...they told us they would pay for stuff the insurance companies did not pay for....WRONG!!! We STILL have poor, financially broke people with blue tarps on their roofs....not many, but there are still people fighting for life as they knew it, pre-Ike. FEMA did not wnt to repeat the same mistakes they made in La after Katrina, leaving people in FEMA trailers for 4* years, so they came in here after Ike and pulled out these trailers after 6-8 months.... It was a huge, long fight at every corner you turned...with insurance companies (I was on a first name basis with the Insurance Board in Austin, dragging MY insurance company Nationwide by the collar, in order to get them to pay what they were supposed to be paying, what I had paid for in premiums with NEVER a claim, for 35+ years)....you all are in for the fight of your lives......there are some things you can claim as losses on your income tax...but if you are ACTUALLY thinking Obama and FEMA are going to make you whole again.......you are going to be devastated with THAT outcome! Gird up your loins gang, and prepare for the fight of your lives....OH....and then after all is said and done, maybe 2-3 years from now, you will be getting your notice that your insurance company is no longer insuring homes on the water against these events!!! And the rest of the Nation is going to tell you like they told US...."YOU choose to live on the coast, by the water, YOU should pay for your own damage out of your pockets....why should the rest of the country foot the bill for higher insurance premiums, just to cover YOU"??? THAT is the empathy we all heard down here on the Gulf Coast.....I watch all these people, justifiably so, so angry about not getting any help, all the red tape, etc.....it is just starting for you...... |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | yes you are right, the joke is that we are way inland, and 900 ft above sea level, so WE thought the families that lost everything due to wind and fallen trees were going to be helped , YES we were very naive on thinking that.. so we are taking matters in our own hands here in the little forgotten town by the lake.. |

| We were affected. We live in one of the worst hit areas, in Southern Ocean county. We live on the bay. As a matter of fact, It's Mack's job to keep the ducks off our docks! We lost half our house. The first floor, the garage, the roof, two trucks and a boat. We stayed for the storm. It was scary as the water rose into our home. They have condemned 500 homes In my neighborhood. Many of my friends and people I know have Dogs and can't find places to stay. If anyone would like to help, please go on facebook and like "we love 08087". It's a grass roots effort of people just trying to help. |

| I was not affected, meaning me personally, my area was. But that's not the reason for this post. My newly adopted yorkie was greatly affected.
