| Dog Food wet vs. dry Hi, I am so happy we have a website to talk specifically about our beautiful yorkie babies. By the way thanks to all who have replied to my previous questions. Your input has been very beneficial. My concern is this: I have a 3 month old yorkie. When I got her I was feeding her half wet/half dry. My friend told me that her vet said that wet food is not necessary for puppies that the dry food has everything they need. Plus I gets stuck inside their gums and gives them bad breath. My dog is a good eater. She eats dry food alone or with the wet food. On the other hand, my vet said that wet food is very important because I has many vital ingredients for puppies. I am confused. Also, what is the best food for Yorkies: Pro Plan Nuttro Eukanuba Iams |

| Hi there... I used to feed my baby Tini a wet/dry mix. I stopped recently more because the wet food is so much more expensive. I was feeding her pro plan small breed puppy, both dry and canned. After reading more on this site when I decided to wean her off the canned food, I also decided to switch Tini to the Royal Canin Mini Yorkshire formula. She loved it and I like feeding her a food made for her. They also have a puppy formula which your baby would get for now until she is 10 months old or so. I hope this helps! Good luck!

Check out brands like Solid Gold, Newman Own Dog Food, Innova or Natural Balance - just a short list - and you will find the ingredients are much better than the brans you mentioned. Stay away from Soy, Corn and by-products!! Good Luck | |

| I agree with Chewy's mom..and all the brands she mentioned are good and you won't need to supplement wet food with them

| I've personally fed a mixture of wet and dry for years all mine have done really well on it, when we tried dry alone they would pick at the food and I was concerned they weren't eating enough as soon as we reintroduced a little wet they gobble it all done. |

| I used Royal Canin Mini and Maximus LOVED IT!!!!...but he started getting itchy (due to the corn)..as some memebres in this forum also have had problems with due to the Royal Canin..this is NOT with every yorkie but it has happened enough that it needs mentioning..as far as texture and size I really really liked it..BUT once the itchiness happened I switched him to Innova and he will be getting Natural Balance again shortly as he seemed to LOVE it when I was giving him little pieces with his RC...now that he is older I think I will give him a piece of the natural balance roll for breakfast or dinner...anyways there are lots of foods and lots of different opinions..but the best bet is look at the ingredients and labels..YOU CAN LOOK online and compare!!! if you need help pm me and I will try my best

| I have a 3 1/2 mo. yorkie. His name is Toby. He's about 3.5# the last time we took him to vet which was a wk ago. He's been eating Nutro Natural Balance n loves it. I don't give him anything else. I give him 1/2 a honey nut Cheerios as treats for tricks. He loves it and so far he had learned sit, roll over, nite nite (he puts his head way down), bed ( he goes to his bed), kennel (he goes to kennel), n now he's learning bang. He sleeps in his kennel all night. He eats 3 meals. He holds very good when he's in kennel. He was on pad but we got him going out n now when he needs to go he goes to door n scratch. He is allow to roam in kitchen only for now. Vet did recommend Hill's Science Diet but I'm gonna keep him on Nutro Natural Balance. They all good if they're eating it all n no prob with pooping n peeping. |
