| Yorkie depression?? (mental health) Ok guys, this question is about puppy MENTAL health. Riley is now 10 weeks old. He is an extremely hyper, obedient, and sweet puppy. When I purchased him from a breeder, my mom decided to purchase the brother. We thought it would be great that they would get to see each other! Well they have been seeing each other every day. I am on break from school until Tuesday(I am a teacher) and have been enjoying every moment with him. When Riley sees his brother he is obviously extremely excited and wants to play play play! At home all he has is me...I mean I play with him, but I am no puppy!!! lol My issue is that when I get home, he seems "sad". He goes into his crate and just stays there for 1-2 hours. He wont even come out when I call him. Eventually he does come out and eats and plays and of course poops. All his normal stuff, but I am just a little concerned. Is he just "pooped" from playing almost all day or is he really sad? Another thing is that I have only had him for two weeks and I have been with him 24-7 except for when I go to the gym or to the store (1-2 hours tops). How will he be when I leave him alone 6-10 hours a day?!?!?!??! I know he is "just a dog" and that they dont really "miss" us". Am I overreacting and humanizing him? AHHHHHHH!!! Should I lay back on the visits with the brother?!?!??! I dont know what to do!!! If you have any advice (like maybe I should go to a shrink...lol) I would greatly appreciate it.

i've read that dogs don't know time... past 20 min... so whether you are gone 30 min or 8 hours... he'll be ok. can't your mom watch him since she has his brother??? that would be some easy babysitting!!! haha.. if not start getting him used to it... leave him for 3-4 hours and see how he does.. .. leave him with toys that he will only get when you go out so he can look forward to them... interactive toys... and just do like you are doing now.. he clearly has no separation anxiety and it is great when you leave so it sounds like you are doing a great job!!! | |

| He is probably just tired and remember a puppy. Dogs sleep away most of their lives and home is very they can relax. Don't worry, Momma...
