| Thank you for keeping Lilly in your prayers We just got home from the cardiologist. My vet hit it right on the nose when he dignosed her with possible PDA (he's a keeper). The doc at Penn University confirmed it is PDA. Her surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday. It was a very long day for us at the university and Lilly was so well behaved. They loved her and kept saying how she was the best patient because she was so good and cooperative. for Lilly! Although she has this condition I'm so happy that we can fix it and she can live a normal life and be here as long as she wants to. Thanks to everyone praying for her. The doc said her heart looks good and there is no damage other than its a little enlarged and a little swelling on her left side but thats due to her condition and after her surgery it will go back to normal in size. Her heart rate and respiratory rate were normal and her lungs showed normal which is great. Normally with this condition they get fluid in their lungs. I'm so happy I'm crying!! Just to think back how I cried so much and cried myself to sleep because I thought there wasn't a chance. The doc said that the incision will be no bigger than 2 inches and it will be around her leg area. They will place the catheter and go to her heart and place the coil to close the open space thats causing the blood not to flow properly. Her recovery will be fast. As soon as her stitches are out she can run around with Mimi & Timmy!!! Also here is something funny....when the doc came in I explained to him what my vet said and then the doc asked well do you know what PDA is??? Since I done all my research I ran it down to him. He and the students were shocked....lol He was like oh yeah I can really tell you have been reading. I said of course....lol I even told him how I knew that every puppy has it and after a few days after birth it closes and in some cases it doesn't and thats when its PDA. I just want to say how happy I am to have her and give her a second chance because the doc confirmed that if it was left untreated she would start heart failure and pass. Its going to cost us $$$$$ but she is so well worth it! I can keep typing and typing......lol there is so much more to say. God bless you all!! Thank you!! Gloria |

| WOO-HOO! I just hate it when our babies are sick. So glad you have a good vet and the means to get her back to normal. We'll all be praying for the vet (yes, he needs it too!) and for Lilly's quick recovery. |

The doc said that if everything goes well and she is up from anethesia she can come home the same night, if not she will need to stay one night. They have 24 hr care but I'll be sad to leave her there.

How is Hokule? You know your baby never leaves my mind. You were the first person on here I contacted after finding out Lilly had a murmur. Thanks for your support and your kind words. Have you talked to the doc about possible PDA? Lilly's murmur is a grade 5/6. Please know that Hokule is in my thoughts and prayers.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | oh i'm so happy the pda hasn't caused any other problem. Good luck with her surgery next tuesday. Honestly if she were my dog i would let her stay overnight so she can be monitored. This is a serious surgery and i would want her to stay on fluids overnight and IV medication. Plus she'll be watched round the clock for any possible complications.
