My furkids Donating Member | about vet pet insurance!! Just wanted to let you all know how I made out with the VPI. I have 2 yorkies. I brought them both in at the same time for heartworm test and, meds. Sadie got a booster. I will show you the breakdown so you can see what I saved and where I saved it. I do have the extended plan which covers office visits and shots. I pay around 57.00 a month for both of the girls Sadie: physical exam 21.00 pd 10.00 (I got charged for this but he never examined her!) office call 10.00 pd 10.00 dhpp (booster) 18.00 pd 18.00 heartworm test 40.00 pd 15.00 hearthgard 28.00 pd 0.00 (the insurance pays you back 15.00 for either the test or the heartgard) Lillie: heartworm test 40.00 pd 15.00 The office call and PE was all put on Sadies bill so I couldn't claim any of it on Lillies...Besides...he NEVER did the physical exam..I have recently changed vets (long story) I saved 68.00!! I am VERY happy about this. I didn't think I would save as much as I did.. Just thought that any of you that are thinking about getting VPI would be interested in seeing the breakdown. Brenda

| That's great! Thanks for the info. How long did it take to get your refund?

| I 100% recommend VPI too! Once you submit your claim you usually get a check back (or a letter explaining why your claim was declined) in about 3-4 weeks. The customer service reps are very friendly and easy to talk to. www.petinsurance.com

My furkids Donating Member | They (VPI staff member) told me 3 weeks and that's how long it took! I really wasn't sure if it was going to be worth it but, I have since changed my mind.

My furkids Donating Member | It only covers 65.00 of the spay...It is something but, I thought it would cover more than that. I have the premium plan which covers office visits and shots...among a few other things. I had to pay a little extra for this...not much though.

| That's disappointing. I was hoping it would cover more...Oh well. I still can't imagine not having insurance on Lucy.

My furkids Donating Member | The main reason that I wanted pet insurance was for the spay...It's just so expensive! But I am still glad that I have it ...I feel I made out fairly well with the what I got back.

| I have had VPI Pet Insurance on Lillybelle, and believe or not--its by payroll deduction--from my job-ha!...anyway..I have been very happy...I figured that I break even each year after vaccinations, visits, spay, teeth cleaning, etc....then I have the added benefit of some coverage should something major occur in the future. I fax the vet charges as soon as get home from the vet-and with 24hrs I have received an email that they have received my fax and I should receive my check in a few weeks. |

| I receive my VPI pet insurance as a payroll deduction from work also. I submitted my first bills to insurance and should hear something back in a week or so. I really purchased this insurance for expensive procedures, etc., but I am glad it pays for office visits, shots, etc.

| Just curious as when i called them they said that they do not cover anything that is listed as a potential problem for a specific breed - Were you told that as well as that is why i opted against it ? |

| If you go to their website they mention it and give breed lists along with the exclusions.
