| Putting my puppy on wet food Roo has not been eating well and she's SO tiny- 1.12 lbs- (definitely too skinny even though she'll always be pretty small)! The vet yesterday said to put her on wet food because she eats better on wet food and we just need to get a little meat on her bones! My question is- does anyone feed their puppy wet food? If so what brand? I'm worried about it since so many wet dog food brands were recalled! I was thinking about Science Diet, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks! |

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | Innove Evo is my suggestion or make her food and always remain offering kibble. Eggs, cheese, low fat cottage cheese, hamburger, steak, chicken, baby food (chicken or turkey?) Do you give Nutrical? Full of good things that ur baby needs and can help supplement your pup. Don't let her go too long with no food.....could cause low blood sugar! Good Luck! Hope she starts Porkin' up for ya!

I read everything I could on this site, and so many people recommended Merrick's, so I researched and researched, and the ingredients are so healthy, and it's made in the US, so it doesn't contain ANY of the scary recalled products. I'm currently feeding my yorkie the Puppy Plate dry and canned, and of course, she loves the canned, and we're working on the dry. Thier food is for all life stages, so you can choose whichever flavor you like (or Roo likes). www.merrickpetcare.com Definitely grab some Nutri-cal (you can get it at PetSmart, or I'm sure your vet's office has some too.) It has been a lifesaver for me, since Lola just wouldn't eat much of ANYTHING, and at least I knew that she was getting the essential vitamens and "suger" that she needed. Hang in there! There are so many fantastic people on this site with such great advice, so I'm sure that we'll find something that she likes!

| I wouldn't use the Science Diet IMHO. It is not the best of foods. Do a search on here and then make your own decision. I have the same problem with Lily who needs to gain weight. I feed her Merricks canned puppy plate. She is so picky and that is just about the only thing she will eat. I also add Rebound which is a liquid diet supplement for dogs. feminvstr posted the following recipes for weight gain. I have not had a chance to try them yet. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...t=71553&page=4 She also said to add avocados to help them put on pounds and mix in a little alfalfa into their food.

| I agree, don't go with science diet if you can help it. There are other really good foods out there, and drawlins gave wonderful suggestions...Those recipes that feminvstr posted are great.

| My little boy was a picky eater in the begining also. But my vet offered him wet food once and that was it. I have him on medi cal development formula and he goes crazy for it. It is usualy gone within 30seconds. Medi cal is good because it has low sugars which most canned foods contain, and for about the same cost. I mix it half and half with medi cal crunchies, this way he gets both. One can lasts about a week that way also, i put it in tuberware in the fridge. This has worked for me..dont know if it helps you any!...also it is only avaible through your vetrinairn. I know there is a few accross town that have it so you might have to phone around a bit.
