BANNED! | NO wheat Gluten or Rice Protein Here are a few dry dog foods I have found out in my researching this recall mess to not have either of these recalled bad ingredients. I called all 3 companies and spoke to them reguarding their dry dog foods. All 3 of these dry dog foods are free of any wheat gluten or rice protein: Eukanuba, Iams, and Science Diet. These 3 have made it clear that they have never used either of these ingredients and they are not included in the recall for dry dog foods...Eukanuba has only had to recall some wet dog foods only. I'm home cooking for the most part and when thats not possible Im switching to Eukanuba for my yorkies..My border collie already eats Eukanuba and her last recent Vet visit and complete check-up my Vet said she was medically boring and the healthiest dog he has seen in along time thus im trusting Eukanuba for my yorkies now too. IMO this is forcing us to home cook , but we all cannot do that completely so Im going with what IMO is best for them at this point!!! |

| Check the ingredients in Euk. against INNOVA. INNOVA has it hands down. May want to check it out first. |

BANNED! | I have and although Innova is a great food choice it tends to cause constipation. IMO since Eukanuba has worked so well for my border collie Im going to go with it for my yorkies too. I know Innova is a good food choice too. Thx. |

| Mine were on Euk. from the breeder too. But soon after I started to educate myself regarding the ingredients in Euk. I quickly changed their food to a higher quality kibble. IMO - Euk. is crap. I would never eat By-products myself and therefore I would never feed by-products to my animals. Innova was a little too rich for my two to handle. I have tried many of the higher quality kibble and I am quite happy with Canidae now. |

| It's funny how all doggies are so different. I fed Innova all along and then switched to Royal Canine AND THEN switched to Merricks! At first I thought Merricks was a hit but they will not touch it now!! So...I went back to Innova and find that Truffles and my Maltese Lexxi show interest in this one still so I'm sticking with it for now. Never noticed constipation either. However, for the most part they are eating my cooked meals and next I am trying the Honest Kitchen!!!

| I think foods that do not contain corn, wheat or by-products are better choices. I would stay away from Eukanuba, Iams and Science Diet. There are a LOT better chocies. Look to Innova, Canidae, Evangers, etc... There was a premium dog food rating linked here in the past and the Eukanuba, Iams, and Science Diet Foods were getting like one star compared to 5 stars for the better foods. Just one way of rating -- but it made some of the differences easy to see.

BANNED! | Well after further research I've decided to use Innova and Merricks and mix these two foods for their kibble. I know Yorkies have more needs for good nutrician then my border collie. Thx for all the added suggestions!! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi Debbie! You're such a sweetheart for researching that info. - it's so scary right now! I will say, very kindly, that I would steer so clear of Iams, Euk, and most SD as well. These are not only poor quality nutritionally, but they are mass, mass market; therefore, of all foods to be suspicious of, these would potentially be the most "guilty" ones, only bc these large producers may get their ingredients from allllll over the place. I'd be careful. As usual, I'll highly recommend Canidae All Life Stages....but who knows, it may be me next who posts "Canidae recalllllllllllled!!" - but I certainly hope not and I'm knockin' on wood! As someone here famously said: WWFMMNNWFY - "what works for me may not necessarily work for you"! LOL. Best, Ann

| The Freshest Food All of these foods are cooked in huge batches and sit in warehouses for months. If you want a "Fresh" food that is cooked in small batches and shipped direct to your door Click Here You can't judge foods strickly by the ingredients label. |
