What causes sensitivity to certain foods OK, Chloe has been sick. Long story short (see post "poor chloe is sick") we think she's now sensitive to beef.
She got diarrhea last week, and it came about after I had given her a half a boiled egg and some steak in the evening, she had soft poop progressing into diarrhea the next two days. So I took her to the vet, they tested for intestinal parasites in her stool (after several days we were told it was giardia, then it turned out to be another "chloe", and her panel came back clean--no parasites).
So now we're thinking its the beef. Last night I gave her some grilled hamburger (no spices or anything, just meat), and this morning she had the runs again. She had been normal, normal poop and all after I took her to the vet last week, then it came back today.
So my question is: if it is beef causing her a problem, then why did it never cause a problem before? What makes dogs become sensitive to certain foods? If in fact, that is what is going on.
Confused.
PS. One of the girls in the vets office said they're getting more "upset tummy" problems lately because people are rapidly switching from dog food to real food due to fear from the recall. |
