| Royal Canin vs Nutrience I have a question about food. My Chelsea is 4 months old, and she was sent home with us with Royal Canin puppy chow. She has not been eating it at all since we brought her home. We went out today and brought home a sample of Nutrience puppy small breed and she is at least showing some interest in it - and even eating! Question is - does anyone know of a reason why we should not switch her over to the Nutrience? Thanks! |

| I guessed your Chealsea was eating before her Royal Canin food but right now she has decided that she doesn't like it anymore. Maybe it's also because of change in her life. If she preferred to eat Nutrience why not going with that. But the only thing is as long as the change is so quick maybe you will have some diarrhea. Usually we've try to make the switch by using 3 parts of the old food with 1 part of the new one and gradually finish with the new brand.

| I havent read the ingredients in the Royal Canin puppy chow but I have for the Royal Canin Yorkshire 28 which is supposed to be formulated especially for Yorkies. Our Buster was on that but I switched him over when I realized the second main ingredient was Brewers rice which is filler garbage and the 6th main ingredient is Corn Gluten meal which again is another filler and not to mention corn is a ingredient that majority of dogs are allergic to. So anyway we bought him Nutrience Holistic Maintenance for Adult small breeds and its really fantastic. The ingredients are great. And also the cost is about the same or maybe a bit less. I think Royal Canin is all about Marketing which is very disappointing. I orginally bought it because I didn't know anything about dog food so I thought since its made for Yorkies and the bag looks nice and its expensive...why not. But now Ive learned to read the ingredients and see whats bad. I read the ingredients for the Nutrience Junior Small Puppy Breed and the 2nd main ingredient is Brewers Rice(filler) and the 3rd main ingredient is Ground Corn(filler, possible allergy) and it contains menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of vitamin K activity which is supposed to be bad. So personally I would start looking for a different puppy food. But its up to you Just because one brand sells one great dog food doesn't mean all the rest is great. I really hope this helped __________________________________________________ ______________ Heres the ingredients for Nutrience Junior Small Puppy Breed INGREDIENTS: Chicken meal, brewers rice, ground corn, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols and citric acid), hydrolysed chicken, dried egg product, dried beet pulp, yeast culture, chicken flavor, lecithin, dicalcium phosphate, potassium chloride, salt, calcium propionate (preservative), citric acid, fumaric acid, malic acid, lactic acid, choline chloride, DL-methionine, yeast extract, marigold extract, dried kelp, dried carob, dried fennel, dried ginger, dried fenugreek, dried rosemary, dried turmeric, dried cayenne, rosemary extract, yucca schidigera extract, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), iron proteinate, ferrous sulfate, zinc methionine complex, zinc oxide, sodium selenite, vitamin E supplement, vitamin B12 supplement, copper proteinate, copper sulfate, manganese proteinate, manganous oxide, folic acid, niacin, calcium pantothenate, vitamin A acetate, riboflavin, pyridoxine hydrochloride, thiamine mononitrate, biotin, menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of vitamin K activity), calcium iodate, vitamin D3 supplement.
