| Anyone feed Blue Buffalo? I just bought the puppy formula today. Emma is currently on Eukanuba Small Breed Puppy, and I wanted her to be eating a better quality food. I looked at "the list" that's been posted on here several times, and thought that Blue Buffalo seemed like a good one to feed-it's categorized as a 4 star food on that site, while Eukanuba is only a 1 star food . I wonder why the vets have told me to feed her that!? I'm sure they get $ from Euk. to sell their products, and I suppose it's probably not AS bad as feeding Alpo or Pedigree from the grocery store! Also, my vets have told me to keep her on Puppy food until at LEAST 10 months of age, but I've heard others say it should be a year. Any thoughts? |

| I have never fed Buffalo but make sure you check out the protein content. Sometimes it can be too high for our babies. If okay, give it a try and let us know what you think of the food! I feed mine Life's Abundace.......it's for all stages of life.

| Liking it so far We just started Blue Buffalo for our two 5 year olds a few months ago. I tried it at researching dog food and it was one of the few that used good ingredients. Before Blue Buffalo, every once in a while one of our yorkies would get an upset stomach and vomit. I never knew if it was the food or something else. But since switching to Blue Buffalo there hasn't been any problems. |

| Diamond has been on Royal Canan (sp?) ever since she was a puppy but a couple months ago, she started turning her nose up to it and acting like she didn't like it. I experimented with quite a few foods but I got talked into buying Blue Buff...there was someone at Petsmart from Blue Buff trying to market the product, I think it's fairly new? ANYWAY, to make a long story short...Diamond absolutely LOVES this food and I believe it's a pretty good quality dog food. She is on the puppy formula, right now she is 11 months or so. I think once she turns a year, I will switch to the adult formula. But we approve and give two !!!

| What to feed! I suggest Life's Abundance. It is a Premium Health Food and it is shipped fresh to your door. Watch the video "Truth About Pet Food" before you decide on a food for your Yorkie. |

| We use the puppy formula, in a mix with Solid Gold puppy and the Castor & Pollux super mix puppy. The girls seem to like it fine, but Luna has trouble with the kibbles because they're a little big and triangle shaped.

They only sell the puppy formula with a "pack" that includes pork hide (Pork is a BIG no-no for Yorkies) and it's $69.95 There is no option to get just the food

| Blue Buffalo is a great food! I used to feed my babies the canned Blue Buffalo when they were itty bitty puppies. The best part about Blue Buffalo is that you can get it at PETSMART! Very convenient and it's great quality, too! |

Are you talking about Life's Abundance? If so, they do not have a puppy formula, Life's Abundance is for All Life Stages and it isn't $69.95. Also, I have never heard of pork being bad for Yorkies. My Monty has been enjoying Porkhide Bones (which are much safer than Rawhides) for years with no problems. I don't understand your post! | |

| I see that the formula is for "all life stages" I will bet that it says in fine print, under the feeding instructions, that puppies should eat twice the adult amount to get proper nutrition. Maybe it's just me, but I am wary of the "all life stages" claim on foods. I'd rather that my puppy eat a more appropriate amount of kibble that's nutritionally dense, than have to eat a load of kibble to get thier proper balance of nutrition for growth. More kibble = more poopies = good luck potty training them And yes, it's a well known fact that Yorkies and other toy breeds have a hard time digesting pork. Not ALL, but MOST. I'm not taking any chances with my dog's delicate digestive system when there are so many other treats that are available. Just my opinion from all the research that I've done over the years about Yorkies I wanted one for a long time before I finally got one, so I read everything I could get my hands on about them, so I don't say this stuff lightly, it's just been the concensus that Yorkies shouldn't have pork, and that puppies should have puppy food. That does look like a good quality food for adult dogs, though

| Puppy/Senior/All Life Stages food According to Dr Jane Bicks, DVM and pet food formulator. The whole thing with "puppy food" and "senior food" is unfounded in her years of research. I have spoken with her about this and asked why Life's Abundance is not available in a puppy food. Research has shown that the requirements for nutrients in a senior is not different than in a puppy. According to Dr Jane, you do not want to give a senior dog less protein because he does not process protein as well at an older age. The same goes for all nutrients, the is no difference in the requirements of puppies and seniors. The only reason these companies are selling a different food for each life stage is to get more SKU's on the shelf and give them more opportunity to make a sell. This practice is based on the all mighty dollar, not science. And, No there is no fine print on the bag (or anywhere else). Life's Abundance is 26% Protein and the suggested amount to feed daily is based on the dogs weight and nothing else. Please note the following printed on the bag: Animal feeding tests using Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) procedures substantiate that Life's Abundance Premium Health Food for Dogs provides complete and balanced nutrition for all life stages. |
