Taking Max to the Vet today Poor Max has had diarrhea on and off for a couple of weeks. It got really bad about 3 days ago. I put him on rice and a little bit of his dog food as well as pepto bismol. He's a little better, but it's not gone yet. After reading alot of the posts about diarrhea, I decided to take him to the vet just to be sure he's okay. He goes to a doggie day care center two times a week and I'm fairly sure he got it there - either from their food, or from another dog. He's also sneezing, so he may have gotten it from me. I work as a teacher and there's a stomach, cold thing going around my school. At any rate, thanks so much, once again for sharing your knowledge om this site. I was going to let it go a few more days, but as I read your posts, I realized that that wasn't a good idea. This is going to be a very expensive day. My VCR also broke last night and I'm going to pick up a new one. Thank God for credit cards. I'M RETIRING IN 5 WEEKS!!! So, he won't be in doggie day care after that, except top go and play. He really loves it, but if it makes him sick, he can't go there. I can't wait to retire. Judy

Thanks. His diarrhea is about gone. The vet put him on medication and a Science Diet food (which I suspect is just chicken and rice with some chemicals added). He has 2 more cans left and then I'll slowly put him back on his Merrick's Puppy Plate. But, now he's coughing. I think it's "kennel cough" although he was vaccinated with a bordatella vaccine before going to the kennel. As I said, he may have gotten sick from me because I also have a slight cold. I'm going to call the vet and probably take him tomorrow, just to be sure. She only charged me $39 for the food, the meds and the visit last time! I was amazed! She's very sweet to him and came highly recommended. Keep you posted. Judy

What a fair price, and a good vet. If you are worried about the cough you could always give them a call, I am SURE they will be only too pleased to help you. Let us know how it goes. Thinking of you ....
