| Will change in food help? Daisy has been eating Nutro Natural Choice Chicken Meal, Rice & Oatmeal and until just recently did i realize that maybe her food is causing her to itch. I looked at the ingredients and there is no corn in it. I've ordered a bag of Merrick Grammy's Pot Pie. Do you think that will help her itchiness ? Thank you.

| You could try it and see if it helps. Chachi had the itchies when he ate Royal Canin but that also had corn in it

| I was going to put her on Nutro Ultra which is also a Holistic food, but after alot of research it seems most are fed Merrick's of some sort so i decided to go that and hope it will stop. She's not chewing of anything just scratches here and there. The vet gave me something a few months ago to help with the itching. I thought it was from the weather change and i have base board heat, and thats pretty dry.

Not all Yorkies are allergic to corn and wheat. If your furbaby doesn't itch there is probably no need to switch the food. | |

| Ohhhh... by the way.... most treats contain corn as well. We had to get rid of Mitzi's beloved beggin strips. (Now she is mad with me!) |

| It would be really nice if there was a "manual" as to what to feed Yorkies!! From reading here on this forum, it appears it could be a trial and error type thing as to what they react badly to. I'm aware that corn, salmon, dairy, and citric acid vitamin C is bad for them. But also, it appears that wheat in diet could cause an allergy reaction also. But I tried to "google" Yorkie diets and found alot of people say wheat, barley, potato, beef meats; are all good ingredients. So confused where to start. I have a 5yr old male yorkie I just adopted and previous owner switched foods alot. Where to start? Help. |
