| my dog ate chocolate I found my 8 lb dog eating a tootsie roll pop. I have no idea where she got it, but I know that chocolate is toxic to animals. Was it enough chocolate to hurt her, or am I worrying too much?

| I think she will be fine. You can probably expect a change in her poop. Just keep an eye on her, and if you want to call your vet in the morning, I am sure they will tell you she's OK. I don't think a Tootsie Pop contains enough chocolate to be a big problem. Here's a link I got from another recent thread. http://vetmedicine.about.com/cs/nutr...latetoxici.htm

| She ate over half of it, but not completely all of it. She seems okay.. so im just going to keep an eye on her and call the emergency vet if anything happens.. any signs I should look for? Thanks for your help!

| I hope she is ok. I think dark chocolate is more toxic that milk chocolate. I don't think a tootsie roll has that much chocolate to be toxic but like others advise keep an eye on her and call your vet to be safe. |

| I'm sure your pup is fine too. I can't tell you how many times my dogs (any of them) have eaten chocolate. Of course, I don't give it to them, but over the years, they have found opportunities to get some here and there.... Carol Jean |
