| When during heat are they fertile? My Brandy just went in to heat today (She seemed a bit swollen yesterday but no blood until today). My new little boy, Titan is 9 months old and intact. Is she fertile immediately or do I have a few days to deal with this? I'm bummed about having to seperate them because we just got Titan a week ago and they are still bonding. I'm also thinking I could call the vet and see if they could squeeze him in for neutering. I had been considering the possibility of breeding but now that I am faced with this I need to make a decision. Even if I decided to breed them it would not be now. It's funny, Brandy is 19 months old and this is her first heat cycle. The vet said she probably had one already but without symptoms. Do you suppose having a fertile male in the house caused her to go into heat now?

| If you dont want puppys then you will have to keep them seperated. heat is 3 weeks...............Some people use panties and belly bands on their dogs at this time , But they can get out of them and it only takes a sec. good luck and I hope one of the breeders comes and helps you out more. |
