| Please read the link Ann provided. Food allergies are rare and it is generally environmental allergies not food allergies. Please listen to those of us that have been down this road.

| Yep. Callie has IBD which is caused by food allergies. Before the diagnosis I tried every brand and every type of food and it never worked because they all come in contact with all ingredients used in that plant so a dog who as a true food allergy can’t eat any of those kind of foods. People just don’t get it.

| I agree with Lovetodream88.....food allergies are not as common as environmental. Most vets do not start with food....that is a royal pain to do...and in the end, it is usually environmental. You can do blood work to see what she is allergic to, but I would only do that if I were planning on doing the injections to desensitize. I don't do the testing any more. I have two pups with allergies right now...one of mine and a foster. They both have had injections of Cytopoint....it is a new med and is getting rave reviews. It does not have the side effects that many of the allergy treatments have. This link below explains the percentage of food allergies in dogs. It also discusses symptoms of food allergies...and it discusses food trials. They are a pain in my opinion and if the poor thing is itching while you are trying different foods it is a pain for them...they have to be on the various foods for 12 weeks! Given the small percentage of 10% there is no way I would do it. Food Allergies & Food Intolerance in Dogs

If I had a nickel for every person who told me their yorkie was allergic to chicken, I would have a nice chunk of change! Illogical is an understatement.

| With my pup, she was on RC then she stopped eating that and I switched to Wellness then she stopped eating that so I tried Blue Buffalo. She did fine with RC and Wellness, but when she was on Blue Buffalo, her skin got really dry. Because of her dry skin, she scratched more. So I think the food they eat do have an impact on the itching -- in Ella's case, it wasn't an allergy (I think). I ended up getting her a cytopoint shot while I worked on getting her skin better. And cytopoint was great! |

| I still think REAL FOOD is far better than commercial dog food. My girl itched at night also...turned out to be laundry detergent we used for bedlinens. Now we wash our bed linens in vinegar , bakingsoda and water no more itching at night been months now. It is usually environment not fleas or food. |
