| Yorkie Cries While Pooping My twelve week old Yorkie has been yelping and crying while pooping along with running while she poops. First time she yelped and cried was once yesterday and now once today. I'll take her into the vet as soon as I can today but was wondering if anyone knew what could possibly be going on or what I can do to help her. I don't want her in any pain. |

YT Addict | Poor baby... Is there any possibility she could have gotten ahold of something and eaten? (It just reminds me of an aussie pup my mom had - she had eaten a bit off a straw basket, when she was trying to poop later on it was hurting her and she cried/yelped like you are explaining) Hope your little baby gets to feeling better! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I hope the vet has an answer for you...this poor baby. Hopefully it's just anal glands. Did you give any new food or treats?

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Its possible that she could have a Inguinal Hernia / groin hernia or possibly even two Bilateral Inguinal Hernia /one on each side. I just had this issue with one of my pups in my last litter. They look like little bumps on one or both sides of the pelvic/inner theigh area close to the volva. The pup was crying out each time she tried to poo and would run around and sometimes even backwards trying to potty. My vet said that it is possible that they could correct themselves and if not will get worse and worse and cause more damage and also that the pup if female should never be breed. If they do not correct themselves in time they will need to be surgically corrected as soon as possible. Which is something that is less costly if done during a spay surgery. I would ask your vet to check her for this. Its very easy to tell if she has them. Dog Hernia | Inguinal Hernia in Dogs | What is a Hernia? | petMD

| Crying pup I wonder what you found the issue with your dog to be? We care here when we see a dog in pain and would like to know how she is. Your answer might also help another pet owner if she/ had the same distressing symptoms. Hope she is ok now Thank you. |

| Update We took her to the vet and had her checked out, and told us everything looked fine and that her heart and lungs are doing well. So he told us to bring in a stool sample to have it tested. We got a call back the day after and he said she had a parasite called Giardia, so we brought her in that day to get her medicine so she can get rid of them. We had just got her a week prior to this, so we are thinking that she had this from her previous owner, wether she had come in contact to another dogs poop or if she had drank after another dog who already had it. She's doing better now, and isn't having any trouble with going potty, and we have just a few more days of her medicine to give her and we will have another stool sample tested to make sure the parasites are all gone and that she is better. |

Well its good that you know what the issue was and your pup is on the mend. That Giardia can be a pretty hard thing to deal with. If she had this it was probably something she got from the litter. I've seen situations where an entire litter of puppies had it. Not something you want the wee little ones to suffer from but it happens and thankfully if caught in time can be taken care of quickly with meds.
