| What is hypoallergenic dog food for yorkies Hypoallergenic dog food avoids the use of ingredients that provokes allergic reaction in dogs. The most common foods are: 1. Corn 2. Wheat 3. Yeast 4. Soy 5. Fish 6. Beef These foods will keep your yorkies away from allergies. Last edited by Wylie's Mom; 04-29-2015 at 05:38 AM. Reason: Removed advertising link |

| Food allergies are very rare and keeping your dog from those ingredients is not going to keep them from getting allergies in fact salmon is used as one of the proteins in foods for dogs who have food allergies. The only true hypoallergenic food that I know of is a prescription food by Royal Canin. Because these so called limited ingredient foods you buy at the pet stores are made in plants with non limited ingredient foods so they get contaminated. So unless you go prescription there is not true hypoallergenic food.

| There are hydrolyzed foods which are the most hypoallergenic. Jill's, Royal canin and Purina all make them.

| I was informed by a vet nutritionist that chicken is an ingredient that causes more allergic reactions in dogs than most any other source, including those "dreaded grains".....I was stunned and verified that information with at least 2 other vet nutritionists and a dermatologist/allergy vet. |
