Yorkie Talker | Stella and Chewey's I have my 4 month old yorkie who currently weighs 4.5 lbs eating Hills Science Diet. She eats about 3/4 cup per day. I have been thinking about switching to Stella And Chewey's Dinner Patties and mixing with a grain free kibble. Does anyone else feed their puppy this and how much do you feed them? I tried 1/2 of a dinner patty with 1/4 cup of dry and she devoured it in 5 minutes. |

| I feed Primal, the frozen cubes or patties. My dogs absolutely love it and devour it quickly. I am moving away from feeding kibble. There is a calculator on the Primal website telling how much to feed based on the weight of your dog. Diana |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I've fed raw for about 6 years now and I love it. I've fed Stella's before but I usually feed Primal or Natures Variety just out of convenience in obtaining it. I'd use the feeding calculator as guide to start, and then go from there. Here it is: Stella & Chewy's - Feeding Guide

| Another vote for primal here! I would consider Stella & Chewy's raw food and they have great freeze dried treats also. |

| Its okay to feed both raw and kibble, but best not to feed them both in the same meal. Diana |

| Where are you at with the transition? Is he getting more kibble or raw? I fed mine kibble at night and raw in the morning for a few days, then just made the switch. I also gave him a little goat's milk to keep his tummy settled during the transition. He did fine - no loose stools or vomiting - and eats so much better now that he's off kibble. Diana |

From what I have read (I am no expert) it is a myth that mixing raw with kibble is bad. In fact you can find many articles online that talk about his myth. I mix freeze dried raw with my pups kibble and they do great. In fact, what I use is intended for mixing with kibble, Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Mixer. If you are still concerned about it, I would ask the advice of your vet and not rely on what people say online.

Yorkie Talker | This past Saturday I mixed a little of the raw with kibbles all three meals. Sunday her stool seemed a little loose but still formed. Then I saw your post about not mixing at the same meal so I only fed her kibbles this morning. I really know very little about raw food. I started researching because she has anywhere from 5 to 6 bowel movements per day. She even gets up at around 3:00a.m. to go out. I thought this seemed a little excessive so I started looking into different foods. At this point I am confused. |

I have read both - that you shouldn't feed them together, and that it is a myth that you shouldn't feed them together. I opted for the least risky and choose not to feed them together. But honestly, unless I was seeing a vet nutritionist I probably wouldn't ask my vet for feeding advice. I have an excellent vet and trust her judgment about many things, but feeding my dog is one that I feel a little iffy about. She isn't that fond of raw feeding. Diana

Raw feeding is one of those things that some people love and others hate, even vets don't always agree on it. I personally don't feel 100% comfortable feeling raw only (plus it's expensive), but as a small topper, I don't see the problem. It is the only thing that will get Lexi to eat all of her food.
