Flea dirt after Frontline Plus First I was using Parastar. He got fleas like 2 months ago. After the Parastar I tried the Seresto Collar. He didn't like it and I didn't like it, so I just tried Frontline Plus 2 weeks ago. I walk him over 3 miles a day. He was biting himself a little bit yesterday after our walk. I investigated and found nothing. I was doing my daily grooming/brushing today (on a table with a white pillow case under him) and a little bit of flea dirt fell-just a little bit. I tested it with the paper towel and sprayed it and smeared it, it was flea dirt. Is this something I should worry about? Did the Frontline Plus not work either? Why is he a flea magnet? I get him groomed every 4 weeks and keep his hair short. Oh and he's also on Sentinel so I don't have to worry about the eggs....right? Can anyone suggest why I'm having such bad luck or maybe this is normal. And what flea and tick prevention I should use? I was thinking Comfortis for fleas, but then I would need something for ticks. Or just keep using Frontine Plus?

Frontline like sentinel only sterilizes the flea so it can't produce more...it doesn't kill the adult fleas. I used to use separate flea and heartworm years ago and for a year and half have been using trifexis because we have a weenie dog with flea allergies. While it does its job immediately and for nearly the entire month all the recent news about it causing deaths .... we have switched to revolution. We have been using it on our kittens since January and now all three of our dogs. Winnie had her very first dose this month and is 15 weeks. The first time I put it on our kittens within the first hour we saw dead fleas. It works well and kills the fleas....dead flea is the only good flea ;-) my mom just had to buy advantage two weeks after buying Frontline for the same reason. I worked as a vet tech for years and my boss was never a big fan of sentinel or Frontline because no one wants to see fleas !

The Frontline Plus kills the fleas the website says. My vet gave me the Parastar and Sentinel. So I am basically protected then? And I may get flea dirt once and awhile but that is as far as it will go? Or should I switch flea and tick prevention medicine again? Last edited by Tinathetooth; 09-13-2014 at 05:24 PM.

My appologies! It's been about 7 years since I've had any experience with frontline! I guess they have added to their product which is good...I've always been a fan of advantage so I didn't follow frontline close enough. That being said....I still prefer using revolution :-)
